About Company: An OEM manufacturing machines for the steel and copper industries — downstream strip processing equipment used after hot rolling (levelers, slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, scalping and milling lines).
We are looking for an experienced detailer who can independently produce complete, manufacturable part drawings from general assembly drawings. Work is assigned as discrete drawing packages, so it can run alongside your existing job or other freelance work.
What You Will Do
• Prepare detailed part, sub-assembly and fabrication drawings from GA drawings and layouts.
• Apply correct dimensioning, GD&T, fits, surface finish and welding symbols.
• Specify material grades, heat treatment and hardness requirements in drawing notes.
• Select standard hardware — metric fasteners (M5 to M36), keys, dowels, circlips, bearings, seals.
• Prepare BOMs and manage part numbering and revision control.
• Resolve drawing queries from the machine shop, fabrication team and vendors.
What You Must Know
• AutoCAD 2D — strong command, mandatory. 3D (SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo) is an added advantage.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101, and limits and fits per ISO 286 (H7/g6, H7/p6 and similar).
• Welding symbols (ISO 2553 / AWS A2.4) and surface roughness callouts.
• Steel grades and their applications — EN8, EN19, EN24, EN31, IS 2062, SS 304 / 316, tool steels — plus the right heat and surface treatment with hardness ranges.
• Metric fastener selection by size and property class (8.8 / 10.9 / 12.9), with correct washer, locking and thread engagement.
• Candidates from process piping or civil / architectural drafting backgrounds will not be considered.
Payment Terms
• Fixed rate per drawing sheet at standard sizes (A0 / A1 / A2 / A3), agreed before work starts.
• A sheet is billable once checked, approved and released. Corrections of the designer's own errors are free; design changes from our side are paid as revised work.
• Sheet breakdown is driven by the assembly — parts are not to be split across sheets to raise the count.
