Department Overview: 4W leverages the strengths of UW-Madison to promote gender equity, global well-being, and the full participation of women in society. Our key activities include supporting catalyst projects that translate research into practice, hosting platforms that address pressing gender and well-being issues, and cultivating leadership among scholars and students to empower them as changemakers. Anticipated Start Date: Available immediately Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Partially Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: Minimum: 10 Schedule: The position requires an average of 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Ideally, the intern will work 1–2 hours each weekday. Some in‑person office time is expected, though the specific arrangement can be discussed. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: Minimum: $16.00 Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: -- UW-Madison Undergraduate Student -- Experience with or the ability to quickly learn platforms such as Wisc Web WordPress, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite (or other desktop publishing software), Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Microsoft Office Suite, is desired. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : -- Attention to detail and accountability: The 4W Intern must be highly responsible, organized, and detail-oriented. This individual should be self-motivated and comfortable working independently to meet deadlines. Regular meetings with the 4W Project Assistant and progress reports via emails, weekly meetings, or video calls are required. -- Excellent communication skills: The applicant must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. They should be capable of supporting executive communications and interacting graciously and professionally with diverse audiences, including UW staff, students, faculty, and donors. -- Commitment to the values of 4W: The intern must have a strong understanding of and commitment to gender equality and equity, and be ready to join a team that centers the dignity of persons and prioritizes welcoming practices that foster inclusion and belonging for all. -- Positive attitude and willingness to perform administrative tasks: This includes valued tasks such as mailing, printing, making copies, general organization, assisting with catering arrangements, and note-taking. Position Summary/Job Duties: The undergraduate intern will report to the 4W Project Assistant and support efforts related to the following: -- Social media, website management, and communications: Develop and manage content across 4W’s social media platforms and website. This includes curating posts, updating website content, engaging with the online community, facilitating communication with members of the community and beyond Madison, WI, etc. -- Events and activities: Assist with event planning and administration, including promoting events (e.g., designing flyers, creating social media posts, and coordinating promotional efforts), providing on-site support (e.g., note-taking, scribing, and event staffing), and handling post-event duties, such as gathering feedback and assisting with follow-up communications if needed. -- Other tasks as directed by the 4W Project Assistant, as time permits. Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary office work with routine computer use and minimal lifting (up to 10 lbs).
