Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large. About the Role: As an Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding and nurturing strategic partnerships within a portfolio of high-value institutional accounts. You will drive growth by building and strengthening relationships, leading data-driven account strategies, and delivering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and strategic thinker who thrives in consultative sales environments. You will report to the Regional Sales Director and will be responsible for managing 150-250 key institutional accounts. In this role, you will lead with purpose, analyze customer data to uncover actionable insights, and identify new opportunities to accelerate growth across both journal and non-journal product offerings. Job Responsibilities: Own & Grow Accounts: Manage a diverse portfolio of 150-250 institutional accounts, driving measurable revenue growth and exceeding targets. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with internal teams (POD members) to develop comprehensive, forward-thinking account plans and revisit strategies to ensure continuous success throughout the year. Data-Driven Insights: Leverage customer usage data and performance trends to evaluate account health, proactively addressing challenges and opportunities for growth. Renewals & Negotiations: Lead the negotiation of renewal agreements, ensuring terms are mutually beneficial while meeting internal revenue goals and compliance requirements. Cross-Selling & Upselling: Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell Wiley’s full portfolio by understanding the unique needs of each institution and offering tailored solutions. Customer Research: Continuously research and analyze client organizations to understand their strategic goals and provide solutions that align with their mission and vision. Build & Expand Relationships: Cultivate and deepen relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders at client institutions to ensure ongoing satisfaction and long-term partnership. Data-Driven Negotiations: Navigate complex negotiations with a strategic, consultative approach to secure win-win agreements and achieve favorable outcomes. CRM Excellence: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date pipeline in CRM systems, providing timely forecasts and insights to leadership. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with customer success, sales operations, editorial, and other teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Industry Presence: Represent Wiley at conferences and industry events, showcasing our innovations and building brand awareness. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (4-year). Minimum 5 years of proven success managing complex, strategic accounts and consistently exceeding sales targets. Experience in consultative sales with a track record of achieving financial goals in a high-impact role. Strong ability to collaborate across teams and regions to drive collective success. Exceptional ability to understand and diagnose the unique needs of institutional clients, providing value-driven solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on crafting tailored messaging and building lasting client relationships. Ability to work independently and manage your own book of business with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset. Proven experience in leading data-driven negotiations, finding opportunities for growth, and creating win-win outcomes. Willingness to travel up to 40% to meet with clients and attend industry events. We power infinite possibilities. For more than 200 years, we've transformed knowledge into discoveries that shape the world. Today, our global team of innovators, creators, and experts is driving what's next in science, education, and publishing—creating impact that reaches everywhere. We're not just observers of progress.
