At Macmillan Learning, we're committed to driving innovation that transforms education. We seek team members who thrive on pushing boundaries, envisioning future possibilities, and building solutions that make a lasting impact. Whether you're a Pioneer shaping bold new ideas, a Builder turning possibilities into reality, or a Stabilizer optimizing for success, you'll play a vital role in advancing our mission. If you're excited by the prospect of testing new technologies, implementing transformative strategies, and thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment, we’d love to hear from you! Every renewal season, instructors and institutions decide whether to keep using Macmillan Learning's materials and that decision usually comes down to a relationship, not a reminder email. As an Account Manager, you'll own that relationship for a portfolio of accounts. You'll get to know what each customer is actually trying to accomplish, keep ahead of renewal risk instead of reacting to it, and find real opportunities to grow how they use our products, not just close a transaction. You'll work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Customer Support so that from the customer's side, it feels like one coordinated team, not a series of handoffs. This role suits someone who's comfortable managing a broad book of business, likes being the person who actually knows their accounts, and can move between relationship-building and day-to-day account management without losing track of either. We know some talented people hesitate to apply when they don't check every box on a list. If this role has you excited and you believe you could do the work well, we want to hear from you, even if your path here doesn't match every requirement exactly. We're looking for people who care about our mission and bring their own perspective to the table. Different backgrounds, skills, and ways of working make us better at what we do. If this opportunity speaks to you, tell us how your experience and abilities could add value here. We want Macmillan Learning to be a place where everyone can do their best work and where different viewpoints are genuinely welcome, so if you're a qualified candidate, we hope you'll apply. We're looking forward to learning what you'd bring to the team. This is a remote, work-from-home position. This role covers Orange County/Long Beach, Utah, the LA Valley/Santa Barbara area, San Diego, the Inland Empire, Sacramento, Fresno and some of Nevada. We prefer candidates who reside within the territory; however, residence within these locations is not required. What You'll Do Own the relationship. Build trust with faculty, decision-makers, and other stakeholders across your accounts, going beyond a single point of contact to understand curriculum, buying processes, and priorities at an organizational level. Protect and grow the business. Track account health, spot renewal risk early, and act on it before it becomes a problem. Identify where current customers could benefit from more of what Macmillan Learning offers, including additional courses, departments, or products, and partner with Sales on larger opportunities. Bring the customer's voice inside. Share what you're hearing, including feedback, competitive intelligence, and shifts in the market or in higher ed, with Sales, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success, and use it to sharpen your own account strategy. Help customers get value, not just access. Partner with Customer Success and Support to make sure customers are actually using and benefiting from what they've adopted. Coordinate across teams. Work with Sales, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and Product so priorities, risks, and commitments don't get lost between departments, and lead internal reviews for your more complex or strategically important accounts. Keep the operational side accurate. Maintain account plans, CRM data, and forecasts that are current enough to actually be useful for prioritizing your time. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree 3+ years of experience in account management, customer success, sales, relationship management, or another customer-facing role Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders at once Strong communication, presentation, organization, and time-management skills Experience managing multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously Sound business judgment and problem-solving skills Comfort using data and customer insight to guide decisions and priorities Experience working collaboratively across multiple teams Nice to Have You live within the geographic boundaries of this sales region Experience in educational technology, higher education, publishing, or a related industry Experience managing a book of business with retention and/or revenue responsibility Experience selling or supporting SaaS, digital learning products, or other technology-enabled solutions Familiarity with account planning, forecasting, CRM systems, and business reviews Experience working with faculty, academic leaders, administrators, or institutional decision-makers Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year.
