About The Role
The Senior Accountant role at Hey Recruiting Agency offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely with an established Australian accounting and advisory firm. This position is ideal for professionals with substantial hands-on experience in Australian public practice, particularly in BAS, tax returns, financial statements, and Xero accounting software. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting, taxation, and compliance engagements, ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients. Working closely with Australian clients and stakeholders, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance standards and supporting financial reporting processes. The role requires working during Australian business hours, specifically from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM IST, facilitating seamless collaboration across time zones.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience working within an Australian accounting firm or public practice environment. Proven expertise in Australian Tax & Business Services, including BAS and IAS preparation, tax return filing, and financial statement compilation, is essential. Practical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and ATO compliance requirements is required. Proficiency in Xero accounting software is mandatory, along with a solid understanding of complex taxation matters such as Div 7A and Capital Gains Tax (CGT). Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable working during Australian business hours. A relevant accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee end-to-end Australian accounting and tax engagements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare, review, and finalize BAS, IAS, financial statements, and tax returns for various client entities.
- Handle tax compliance for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships, ensuring adherence to ATO regulations.
- Develop workpapers, perform reconciliations, and prepare month-end and year-end accounts.
- Address Australian taxation issues, including Div 7A and CGT considerations, providing expert advice to clients.
- Manage SMSF accounting and compliance activities, contributing to specialized client needs (preferred).
- Maintain clear and professional communication with Australian clients and stakeholders to ensure expectations are met.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all compliance requirements, adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
- Work extensively on Xero accounting software, leveraging its features for efficient client management and reporting.
