Accountant - Accounts Receivable & General Ledger (Hybrid Guadalajara MX)

Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Hybrid Employment Type: Full-time English Level: Advanced English required Industry: Construction / Fiber and Internet Infrastructure – U.S. Market About the Role MezTal is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to work directly with a U.S.-based company in the construction and fiber infrastructure industry . This position combines General Ledger accounting, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and project analysis . We are looking for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who understands debits and credits, journal entries, account classifications, and how transactions affect the General Ledger and financial statements. This is not a purely transactional role. The ideal candidate can review information critically, identify discrepancies, investigate their root causes, and confirm that transactions are complete, accurate, and recorded in the correct accounts. Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries to the General Ledger. Perform balance sheet and GL account reconciliations. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Prepare and review entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and reclassifications. Review asset and liability accounts and investigate incorrect or unusual balances. Support Accounts Receivable, invoicing, collections, payment application, and customer account reconciliations. Investigate billing discrepancies, short payments, unapplied cash, and incorrect balances. Review project and operational information to support accurate invoicing and accounting. Help connect project activity, invoicing, revenue, and related General Ledger transactions. Support Work in Progress and revenue recognition activities, as applicable. Collaborate with U.S.-based Finance and Operations teams to resolve accounting issues. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. +3 years of relevant accounting experience. Candidates with fewer years may be considered if they demonstrate strong accounting knowledge and independent problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, account classifications, and financial statement impact. Hands-on experience with General Ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close. Experience with Accounts Receivable, invoicing, collections, and customer account reconciliations. Understanding of accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, assets, and liabilities. Ability to investigate discrepancies and determine the appropriate accounting treatment. Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and PivotTables. Experience using an ERP or accounting system. Ability to work independently and meet accounting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Advanced English proficiency for daily communication with U.S.-based stakeholders. Availability to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time and attend the Guadalajara office at least once per week. Preferred Qualifications Accounting experience in construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, or another project-based industry. Experience supporting U.S.-based accounting operations. Knowledge of Work in Progress accounting, revenue recognition, and U.S. GAAP. Experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting platform. Interest in technology, automation, and process improvement. Monthly Salary: $30,000 before taxes Christmas Bonus : 30 days, to be paid in December.
