We are seeking a highly experienced, technical Accountant Supervisor to take ownership of file reviews, workflow management, and team mentoring for an Australian accounting practice. Operating 100% remotely during daytime business hours and reporting directly to the Firm Principal, you will serve as the primary technical filter-balancing high-level review and quality assurance with direct management of a client portfolio, resolving routine matters independently, and escalating only complex, high-risk issues.

Your Impact

• Technical Review & Quality Assurance: Perform detailed reviews of financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS/IAS prepared by junior and intermediate team members; ensure strict compliance with Australian tax legislation prior to sign-off.

• Team Mentoring & Workflow Distribution: Oversee daily workflow allocation, monitor capacity, track project deadlines, and coach team members on complex technical tax matters to elevate workpaper quality.

• Portfolio Management: Directly prepare financial statements, activity statements, and tax returns for a dedicated client portfolio (SMEs, family groups) while handling routine compliance queries.

• Advisory & Principal Support: Assist the Firm Principal with complex client engagements, tax planning research, background analysis, and advisory workpapers.

• Issue Escalation & Alignment: Act as a critical filter by resolving operational queries independently while identifying and escalating high-value tax issues directly to senior leadership.

What You Bring

• The Experience: 5 to 8 years of solid, hands-on experience within an Australian public accounting practice, with proven supervisory or review capabilities.

• Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CA or CPA designation is preferred.

• Technical Tax Mastery: Deep expertise in Australian taxation frameworks, including Division 7A loans, Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), GST/BAS, and Trust distributions/loss provisions.

• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in public practice accounting software, particularly MYOB. Exposure to SMSF compliance is advantageous.

• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with a supportive, clear leadership style focused on operational efficiency and team growth.
