About The Role
We are looking for a
Junior Accounts Associate to join our UK team, working remotely from South Africa.
This is an
accounts-focused role, supporting the preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements for a varied portfolio of UK clients.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience preparing
year-end accounts files, completing reconciliations and working papers, and using commercial accounting software.
Audit experience is not required. We are looking for someone with strong accounts preparation experience who is confident working through a year-end file accurately and methodically.
Key Responsibilities
Year-End Accounts Preparation
- Prepare year-end accounts files for a portfolio of clients.
- Work through trial balances and supporting schedules to prepare financial statements.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain working papers and supporting documentation.
- Process year-end journals and adjustments where required.
- Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Ensure accounts files are complete, accurate and prepared within agreed deadlines.
- Respond to queries arising during the accounts preparation process.
- Escalate complex or unusual accounting matters to the appropriate Senior or Manager.
Client & Team Support
- Work collaboratively with Managers and Seniors across the UK team.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Request and follow up on information required to complete accounts files.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
Essential
Skills & Experience
- Practical experience in an accounts preparation role.
- Strong experience preparing year-end accounts files.
- Good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Experience completing reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Experience using commercial accounting software, such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks Online or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Qualifications
- AGA(SA) or equivalent accounting qualification is advantageous.
- Candidates who are part-qualified or have relevant practical accounts experience will also be considered.
- CA(SA qualification is not required.
Desirable
- Experience preparing accounts for UK clients.
- Knowledge of UK accounting standards, including FRS 102.
- Experience with UK practice software such as IRIS or CCH.
- Experience working in a cloud-based accounting environment.
