Position Summary Paragon Behavioral Health Connections is seeking a compassionate and recovery-oriented ACT Peer Recovery Professional to join our multidisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in Colorado. The ACT Peer Recovery Professional uses lived experience with recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders to build trust and support engagement. The Peer provides community-based services, crisis support, coaching, and group facilitation while modeling resilience and stability. As part of a shared caseload model, this role collaborates with the team to provide intensive wraparound support to adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). A Colorado Peer Specialist certification (or willingness to obtain it within 6 months) is required. This position reports to the Team Lead and includes flexible scheduling with some evening and weekend hours required. Key Responsibilities Build trusting relationships through shared lived experience, empathy, and peer connection. Engage clients through assertive outreach and community-based visits, including homes, shelters, and public spaces. Support clients during crisis situations; assist in de-escalation and provide emotional first aid. Participate in daily ACT team meetings, contributing to treatment planning and team communication. Co-facilitate recovery support groups and wellness education groups. Model recovery values, including hope, self-determination, and meaningful community connection. Collaborate with natural supports (family, friends, landlords) as part of ACT's inclusive care model. Document all peer support activities and progress notes in a timely and confidential manner. Participate in team safety planning, crisis response protocols, and ACT fidelity practices. Housing Provide accompaniment to housing appointments or inspections, when necessary, to support client self-advocacy and engagement. Supervisory Responsibilities None Required knowledge & Skills Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills Ability to set boundaries and manage peer/client relationships ethically Comfort with mobile work, documentation tools, and scheduling flexibility Commitment to ACT principles including shared caseloads High level of independence, time management, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks Commitment to cultural awareness, equity, and working with diverse populations. Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED (required) Experience Minimum of 2 years in sustained recovery (mental health, substance use, or both) required Previous experience in peer support, behavioral health, or crisis response preferred Colorado Peer Specialist certification (or ability to complete within 6 months of hire) preferred Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Driving clients in personal vehicle is an expectation. Must live in or near the community served.
