Advisor, Lymphoma Patient Advocacy Committee (Volunteer)

As an Advisor, you'll have the opportunity to provide valuable feedback, share ideas, and offer insights from the perspective of a patient, family member, or caregiver. You will help shape and improve our care at Dana-Farber. There are many Advisor programs at Dana-Farber where volunteers can provide input. As an Advisor on the Lymphoma Patient Advocacy Committee, you’ll contribute to the mission of the committee: To bring together the voices and experiences of lymphoma patients to meaningfully shape lymphoma research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, so that the research we pursue reflects what matters most to the people it serves. The Lymphoma Patient Advocate Committee is a patient advisory board focused on research, including clinical trials and scientific investigation. Members provide insight and feedback that help strengthen the relevance, clarity, accessibility, and patient perspective of lymphoma research activities. Advisor programs are categorized as either onsite or remote roles. The Lymphoma Patient Advisory Committee is remote as opportunities are typically done via virtual meetings, work document collaborations, and email. Optional onsite visits (such as networking opportunities) may be offered 1-2 times per year and in accordance with Dana-Farber’s visitor policy. As a supplemental resource for patients and families, volunteers who work at Dana-Farber are closely linked to this mission, as are those who volunteer at events that raise essential funds to support it. Volunteers are committed and reliable people who make a very real difference, everywhere they work. You will have the opportunity to contribute your insights and ideas towards the design and enhancement of various programs, services, policies, and processes specific to your focus area of lymphoma. Examples: Advise on clinical trial and laboratory research priorities from the patient perspective Review trial designs and new protocols from a patient perspective Provide the patient perspective on plain-language summaries, patient-facing materials, and patient education materials Comment on clarity and accessibility of research communications from the patient lens Identify barriers to participation and patient burden Offer feedback on grant-related materials to help make them clear, patient friendly, and reflective of the patient perspective; this may include contributing to letters of support when appropriate. Participate in bimonthly meetings and respond to occasional requests between meetings By actively participating in these activities, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact in the health care community.
