Specific Term (up to 18 Months) YOUR ROLE Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, the Advisor, Strategic Communications contributes to the development and implementation of the external communications strategy by actively seeking opportunities to promote cinema, the audiovisual industry, and Telefilm Canada. This position has a national and international scope, with an emphasis on the English-language market. The main responsibilities are: External communications Contribute to the evelopment of national and regional communications plans by developing integrated communications strategies to ensure visibility and outreach Work closely with other teams, including the Web and social media team to ensure consistency across all communication platforms and positioning of spokespeople Work with the Promotion team to strategically position Telefilm representatives at key national and international events Act as a consultant and point of reference for management, while supporting the Governmental Affairs team and working with the Executive Director’s office and the relevant departments to identify strategic issues and sensitive files Advise and support the organization in activities leading to the development of public positions Proactively participate in managing the organization’s reputation and be a key resource for risk and issue management Attend industry events and build relationships with key players Monitor the organizational calendar and prepare or coordinate the production of strategic communications tools to meet needs and amplify impact Media relations Responsible for maintaining, proactively improving, monitoring and analyzing media coverage, and monitoring the impact of activities Efficiently manage media relations affecting Telefilm’s visibility, pitching story ideas, requests for information, interviews and follow-up material from reporters Editorial Draft or coordinate the writing of various documents, such as news releases, speaking notes, key messages, panel documentations and briefing notes for Telefilm’s main spokespersons, members of management or board of directors, and coordinate the publication of these documents Ensure constant and proactive monitoring of the linguistic quality of all senior management external communications tools Management of public events Organize and manage public events Work with partners to position Telefilm at industry events SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or any other combination of equivalent and relevant experience; A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant and recognized experience in public relations/media planning or external communications within a company; Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate messages clearly and consistently. Ability to establish dynamic and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written, at the CBC level.
