Advisory Analyst

This is a unique international opportunity for an experienced university graduate or a professional seeking to build their career in the energy sector to join our India advisory team. You will be based in our Gurugram office. The role will focus on modelling complex power market products including but not limited to round-the-clock RE, flexible renewable energy solutions markets, contributing to our efforts by developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing our modelling methodology, analyzing data and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision-making. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Aurora’s suite of energy marketing models Work closely with our research and consulting teams to derive insights from model results Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates Supporting business development work, for example by contributing delivery plans to our proposals Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required attributes: Relevant degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other quantitative field from a top university (First class university degree from premier institute (IITs and IIMs preferred) Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical ability Experience of working at a major consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or other knowledge-focused firm or institution Strong understanding of power system operations including grid, battery and renewable energy system operations and their role in the Indian power sector Ability to analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information Knowledge of one programming language, e.g. Python Demonstrated ability to work on complex energy modelling of hybrid power products in the Indian power sector, battery modelling etc. Previous experience of working on energy-related projects or policy – particularly in an Indian context (preferably in Power and Renewables domain) Preferred understanding of energy modelling, especially power markets Strong interpersonal skills, and a great team player Ability to understand client problem statements and analyse client relevant outputs using Aurora models Self-starter and strong self-learning attitude Strong experience of working with MS Excel, complex datasets, MS Powerpoint Desirable attributes: Bachelors degree from top tier university Experience in a quantitative and/or technical role Knowledge of and interest in energy markets, and a belief that well-designed models significantly improve decision making Knowledge of statistical and/or optimization techniques Benefits The opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector Direct engagement with clients through Aurora conferences, workshops and webinars The opportunity to grow into a publicly visible industry expert A fun, informal, collaborative and international work culture A competitive salary package Access to regular coaching and mentoring sessions and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals Access to the Aurora Academy, our training programme offering a range of opportunities to develop your skills within the responsibilities of your role and within the wider context of the industry Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), offering a complete support network that offers expert advice and compassionate guidance 24/7/365, covering a wide range of personal and professional aspects The Company is committed to the principle that no employee or job applicant shall receive unfavourable treatment on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity.
