Aerospace Engineer - Structural & Skin Design

Kalkan Defense Systems is building Strigoi, a fighter-class autonomous combat aircraft. Sovereign. ITAR-free. Designed and built in Europe.

The role

You will take the Strigoi airframe from engineering definition to manufacturing-ready parts. Primary structure. Secondary structure. External skin. You own the path from CAD model to released drawing to a part a supplier can build.

What you will do

• Detail design of airframe structure: frames, bulkheads, spars, ribs, longerons, skin panels
• Full 3D definition in SolidWorks — parts, large assemblies, drawing packages
• Engineering drawings to production standard, including GD&T and material and process callouts
• Design for manufacturing: work directly with suppliers on producibility, tolerances, and tooling
• Support structural sizing and analysis alongside the engineering team
• Maintain configuration control within our design assurance system, structured to EMAR 21J
  

What you bring

• Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• Strong SolidWorks: complex surfacing, sheet metal, large assemblies, production drawings
• Working knowledge of GD&T and drawing release practice
• Understanding of airframe load paths and metallic or composite structural design
• The discipline to release parts, not iterate forever
  

What sets you apart

• Experience taking aircraft or vehicle structures from design into production
• BONUS: Familiarity with EMAR / Part 21 design organisation practice or STANAG 4671
• BONUS: Composite laminate design and tooling experience
• Hands-on shop-floor time
