Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary St. Gerard Majella Catholic School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-focused Aftercare Director to oversee the daily operations of the school's aftercare program. The Aftercare Director is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students, supervising aftercare staff, coordinating program activities, and ensuring the well-being of all participants. This position supports the mission of Catholic education by fostering positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff. Job Description Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee the daily operation of the aftercare program, ensuring a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for students. Supervise, support, and schedule aftercare staff and volunteers. Maintain appropriate student-to-staff ratios and ensure proper supervision at all times. Plan and coordinate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities. Monitor student behavior and implement positive behavior management techniques consistent with school policies. Maintain accurate student attendance, sign-in/sign-out records, and program documentation. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, faculty, staff, and administration regarding student needs and program operations. Ensure compliance with school policies, safety procedures, and Archdiocesan requirements. Assist students with homework and provide academic support as appropriate. Manage program supplies, materials, and equipment. Address student concerns, minor injuries, and behavioral issues, escalating matters to administration when appropriate. Coordinate emergency procedures and respond appropriately to safety-related situations. Support school events and activities as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Job Qualifications High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, recreation, or after-school program setting required. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently. Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and sound judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Successful completion of required background checks, Safe Environment training, and Archdiocesan compliance requirements. Knowledge and Skills Strong leadership and staff supervision skills. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate programming. Effective classroom and behavior management abilities. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff.
