AI Agent Product Manager, Client Product Management Group - Business Support Development Department (BSD)

Job Description: Business Overview Rakuten Group serves approximately 100 million customers in Japan and over 1 billion customers globally, providing more than 70 services across a wide range of fields including e-commerce, payment services, financial services, telecommunications, media, and sports. Department Overview The Client Product Management Group within the Business Support Development Department, Commerce & Marketing Company, serves as the product owner for select features of RMS (an ASP service provided to merchants on Rakuten Ichiba). The group is responsible for product strategy, requirements definition, and development. Our group develops and operates two key merchant-facing features for Rakuten Ichiba: a chat function enabling communication between merchants and Rakuten as well as between merchants and shoppers, and a data analytics feature that visualizes store operations data. Rakuten AI for RMS is a feature that enables Rakuten Ichiba merchants to leverage AI in their store operations. The AI Chat function our group owns provides answers to system usage questions based on manuals and store data analysis capabilities. We plan to further strengthen operational support through the Chat function going forward. In this role, you will join us as the Product Manager for "Rakuten AI for RMS", leading the AI Chat function from strategy through execution. Position Details As the Product Manager for Rakuten AI for RMS, you will be responsible for the following: ・ Define the mid-to-long-term vision and roadmap for Rakuten AI for RMS ・ Plan and propose new features leveraging AI technology ・ Develop differentiation strategies based on competitive analysis and market research ・ Understand merchant needs and define requirements ・ Provide regular progress updates and explain business impact to senior leadership ・ Strengthen collaboration with Sales and Customer Support teams ・ Identify issues, conduct data analysis, set KPIs, and define requirements ・ Prioritize feature development and plan releases based on strategy ・ Drive prompt design and evaluation to improve AI response quality, and optimize user experience ・ Work closely with lead engineers and the development team ・ Manage project scope, budget, and timelines ・ Promote and improve agile development processes ・ Analyze usage data and extract insights ・ Plan, execute, and evaluate A/B tests ・ Continuously improve the product based on customer feedback ・ Plan and conduct UAT (User Acceptance Testing) ・ Monitor post-release performance and address issues ・ Plan and create user education content ・Strong interest in AI technology and eagerness to keep learning ・Ability to improve products with a user-centric mindset ・Logical thinker who makes decisions based on data ・Adaptable in highly uncertain environments ・Able to lead cross-functional teams ・Able to make proposals with a clear sense of business impact ・Experience developing AI products on Japan's largest e-commerce platform ・Product management of a service used by a large number of merchants on Rakuten Ichiba ・Product planning and development using cutting-edge AI technology ・Experience developing growth strategies for a service with a massive user base Work Environment The Client Product Management Group is a PDM-only organization consisting of PDMs across multiple products. Even though each PDM owns a different product, we foster an open environment where we learn from each other and share ideas freely. You will work closely with DEV and PJM teams as a PDM to drive the growth of Rakuten AI for RMS. Since PDM/DEV/PJM members are distributed across Tokyo, Osaka, and Sendai, you will work in a hybrid environment combining remote work and in-office work. Mandatory Qualifications: ・Over 5 years of experience as a Product Manager or in a similar role ・Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into system definitions and requirements specifications ・Ability to identify issues within your product and propose solutions ・Excellent communication skills (business-level Japanese required) ・Experience making data-driven decisions Desired Qualifications: ・Product management experience with AI-powered systems (especially chatbots, RAG, or LLM-based products) ・Product management experience with features centered on generative AI or conversational AI ・Experience designing quality evaluation criteria for AI outputs, and driving post-release validation and improvement cycles ・Experience designing mitigation strategies for LLM hallucination and misoutput risks ・Experience with B2B SaaS products ・Experience working on an e-commerce platform or marketplace ・Background in system or product development ・Experience owning and driving initiatives tied to budgets or KPIs ・Experience improving internal operations ・Experience leading a small team ・Data analysis experience using BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) ・Data extraction and analysis skills using SQL ・Ability to communicate in English #engineer #productmanager #commerce #RakutenIchiba
