About the Role We're looking for an AI Automation Engineer to identify, design, and implement AI-driven solutions that eliminate manual work and improve the speed, quality, and cost-efficiency of our business workflows. You'll work across teams to find automation opportunities and turn them into production-ready systems. This position reports directly to the Deputy CTO. Location: Carnaxide, Portugal (Hybrid – up to 8 days/month remote, 1st month fully on-site) Key Responsibilities Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone workflows across departments and assess automation potential (AI-based or otherwise) Design and build AI-powered automations using LLMs, agents, and scripting to reduce manual effort Integrate AI capabilities into existing business tools and systems (HR, finance, etc.) Build and maintain pipelines connecting AI models to internal data sources and third-party APIs Prototype quickly, validate with stakeholders, then productionize successful automations Monitor deployed automations for reliability, cost, and output quality - iterate as needed Document workflows, decision logic, and system architecture for maintainability Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational pain points into technical requirements Evaluate and recommend AI solutions, models, and vendors (build vs. buy decisions) Establish guardrails around AI-driven processes (error handling, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, audit trails) Requirements Proven experience building automation solutions (Scripting, workflow orchestration, or similar) Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and prompt engineering Programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript + Git Experience integrating with REST APIs and working with webhooks/ event-driven systems Familiarity with workflow and orchestration tools (n8n, Zapier, Airflow, etc.) Ability to scope ambiguous problems into concrete technical solutions Strong communication skills; able to work directly with non-technical stakeholders Experience with agentic frameworks (CrewAI or similar) Familiarity with vector databases and RAG architectures Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar tool-calling frameworks Nice to Have Background integrating AI into identity/IT systems tools (Okta, Active Directory) or dev tooling (GitHub, Jira, Slack, Datadog) Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker) Knowledge of prompt evaluation/testing frameworks Experience with fine-tuning or evaluating smaller/local models for cost optimization What We Offer Competitive salary & full benefits Hybrid work model as per Company’s Policy Perks: lunch & transport allowance as per Company’s Policy 25 days paid vacation per year Health & dental insurance + wellness reimbursement (after 6 months work) Team events & monthly office activities
