As an AI Engineer, you will...

• Design, develop and deploy Artificial Intelligence solutions that support patients, clinicians and healthcare teams.
• Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, product teams and clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can improve healthcare delivery.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered features into our products, including intelligent assistants, chatbots, clinical workflow automation and decision-support tools.
• Build and evaluate Large Language Model (LLM) based solutions using techniques such as prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), embeddings and vector search.
• Develop AI systems that can safely process, understand and extract value from complex healthcare information.
• Design and implement Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions to analyse unstructured healthcare data, including clinical notes, reports and patient documentation.
• Develop document intelligence solutions using OCR and machine learning techniques to digitise, extract and structure information from PDF and scanned patient records.
• Build and train machine learning models to support healthcare use cases such as patient identification, risk stratification, deterioration prediction and clinical insights.
• Prepare, clean and transform datasets for AI and machine learning applications, ensuring data quality and suitability for modelling.
• Select, train, evaluate and optimise machine learning models using appropriate techniques and performance metrics.
• Develop robust AI pipelines and processes to support testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of AI solutions.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI capabilities into web and mobile applications.
• Work with data engineering teams to ensure AI solutions have access to reliable, secure and well-structured data.
• Ensure AI solutions are developed responsibly, considering patient safety, explainability, bias, privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Apply appropriate security and data protection practices when working with sensitive healthcare information.
• Document AI architectures, model decisions, evaluation processes and technical approaches.
• Keep up to date with developments in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP and emerging healthcare technology.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Commercial experience developing AI, machine learning or data science solutions.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn.
• Experience developing and deploying LLM-based applications using platforms such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI or similar technologies.
• Experience with NLP techniques including text classification, entity extraction, information retrieval or language models.
• Experience with OCR/document processing technologies and extracting structured data from unstructured documents.
• Experience developing predictive models, classification models or risk prediction systems.
• Understanding of model evaluation techniques, experimentation and statistical analysis.
• Experience working with healthcare data or other highly regulated industries would be advantageous.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services, Azure Machine Learning or similar cloud AI platforms.
• Understanding of MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management.
• Experience working with SQL, APIs and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with responsible AI principles, GDPR and healthcare information governance.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.
