AI Engineer

Kalg (kalg.ai) is an AI calorie tracker delivered over WhatsApp, helping our users to achieve their diet goal. This is a remote first, project-based role and open to freelancers.

What you'll do

Help scale our food and nutrition database and the retrieval layer on top of it then wire into our existing LLM flow, with full source traceability for every entry.

What we're looking for

⁠3+ years in Backend, ML or AI engineering, primarily using TypeScript

⁠Experience at an early or growth stage startup

⁠Hands-on LLM integration, including knowledge retrieval, evaluation tests and latency optimization

⁠Nice to have: pgvector, WhatsApp Business API, AWS, or familiarity with nutrition data standards
