About the Company
Our client is a leading LegalTech company listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. They develop SaaS and AI products that combine legal expertise with technology, including AI solutions powered by extensive legal and case-law data.
The company is rapidly expanding its AI and LLM initiatives and is looking for an AI / Machine Learning Engineer to help build the next generation of legal technology.
About the Role
You will join the Core Technology Team and work on AI platforms including Legal Brain and Legal Brain Agent, combining generative AI with proprietary legal data.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, evaluate, and improve LLM and machine learning systems
- Build and improve RAG, AI agents, and search capabilities
- Improve search accuracy and performance using vector search and OpenSearch
- Design experiments, evaluation metrics, and continuous improvement processes
- Research and implement the latest AI/ML technologies and academic papers
- Develop prototypes and new AI-powered product features
- Collaborate with engineers and legal domain experts

Requirements
Must Have:
- Professional software development experience using Python or a similar language
- Plus either:
- 1+ year experience designing, developing, and evaluating RAG or AI agent systems, or
- 3+ years of practical experience in machine learning, NLP, or search, including evaluation and iterative improvement
- Fluent Japanese
Nice to Have:
- Experience with LLMs and related technologies
- AWS, GCP, or Azure experience
- Product development or technical leadership experience
- Interest in LegalTech
- Ability to read technical documentation in English
