Department Overview: The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy (AIHP) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1941 that advances knowledge and understanding of the history of pharmacy and medicines. Based at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy, AIHP preserves and shares pharmacy’s heritage through historical collections, publications, digital resources, and educational programs. AIHP also supports scholarly work, including publishing the peer‑reviewed journal History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals , and serves as a resource for researchers, educators, and the broader pharmacy community. Anticipated Hours Per Week 20 Salary/Wage Range: Hourly $19.00 to $22.00 Number Of Positions 1 Position Summary/Job Duties: The Communications Coordinator supports the daily operations of the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy (AIHP) by assisting with both administrative tasks and public‑facing communications. In this role, you will help with membership support, update databases, process dues, maintain organizational records, and coordinate meetings and communications with the Board of Directors. You will also contribute to AIHP’s digital presence by assisting with website updates, creating and sharing content, and supporting social media activity to strengthen the organization’s brand. This part‑time position offers valuable experience in communications, nonprofit administration, and digital media. The role works closely with staff, interns, and volunteers and helps ensure smooth operations across programs and organizational activities. The position is up to 20 hours per week, primarily in person, with some remote work possible after an initial training period.
