Kama'aina Credit for ALICE Households Pilot Program The Kama'aina Credit Pilot pairs monthly unrestricted cash assistance with light-touch, participant-centered Care Coordination to strengthen financial resilience for working households in Maui County. Care Coordination provides regular monthly engagement, resource navigation, and individualized support—delivered with cultural humility, trauma-informed practice, and minimal participant burden—to help families stabilize and advance toward long-term economic security. Location: Hybrid, but primarily remote (phone/secure virtual platforms). Some in-person meetings will be: training(s) with team (Sept), one client mtg to validate residency, sign-up or town hall events throughout October, and other occasional needs. Optional office space to occasionally work in will also be made available. Primary Purpose The Care team will provide strengths-based, relationship-focused monthly care coordination for beneficiaries in the Kama'aina Credit for ALICE Pilot, connecting participants to community resources, documenting contacts and outcomes in Relief Compass, and escalating concerns as needed. Caseload will be 80-100 active participants, needing 1- one hour engagement per month. Key Responsibilities Conduct one structured participant touchpoint per month (1 hour) for each assigned beneficiary. Assist participants with completing monthly assessments, if needed, and confirm completion. Discuss participant needs, goals, progress, and barriers; support identification of realistic goals. Research, identify, and provide appropriate resource referrals; light follow up on referrals when needed. Record accurate, objective, participant-centered documentation in Relief Compass (monthly contacts, assessments, case notes, referrals, goals, progress, demographic and outcome data) within required timelines. Maintain participant confidentiality and practice trauma-informed, culturally responsive engagement. Participate in weekly team meetings, trainings, and occasional pilot related events. Escalate urgent participant concerns to the Care Coordination Lead or Maui United Way Program Director. Support continuous quality improvement by reporting implementation challenges and training needs. Complete all required training prior to independent participant work and participate in ongoing professional development. Participate in routine file reviews, staff coaching, and continuous professional development. Cooperate with Maui United Way monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities. Required Qualifications & Skills Demonstrated strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills; warm and approachable demeanor. Organized, dependable, able to manage time and an 80–100 person caseload. (That's about 20-25 successful calls a week) Comfort using technology and learning new platforms (Relief Compass, virtual meeting tools). Attention to detail, strong time-management, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality. Cultural humility, ability to work respectfully with diverse communities, and trauma-informed approach. Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaboratively as part of a team. Relevant *experience welcomed (care coordination, case management, social work, community outreach, customer service, education, household management, family care coordinator, healthcare support, etc.) but not required. Training Provided (Scheduled for September) Program orientation Relief Compass platform training Trauma-informed care, active listening, participant interviewing standards Cultural competency / cultural humility Confidentiality and data privacy Community resource navigation and documentation standards Any additional Maui United Way-identified training Compensation & Terms Position is funded through the pilot contract term (anticipated through June 30, 2028). Compensation, benefits, and exact FTE will be set by the Partner Agency consistent with grant/contract terms.
