Our Team The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network. The U.S. Merchant Marketing, Global Marketing Execution & Analytics (UMGEA) team is responsible for leveraging marketing and analytics capabilities to drive sustainable growth through customer, partner, and product insights that inform the merchant value proposition, channel strategy, and investment optimization, while leveraging the full range of enterprise assets and partnerships for GMNS customers and ensuring we remain compliant as a network. The Global Analytics team within UMGEA is responsible for partnering with global markets to drive profitable growth, accelerating acceptance and amplifying the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants, bank partners and Card Members at scale. We offer powerful data and actionable insights to attract new businesses to engage with Amex, help existing businesses improve performance and capitalize on new opportunities. Description: The Global Analytics team is seeking an Analyst to support the Global Network & Partner Business (GNPS) Analytics team to partner with banks to issue cards and acquire merchants globally. Our team acts in an advisory capacity to recommend growth strategies, deep dive into performance issues, develop models and other data solutions for profiling and targeting, and create prioritization strategies. This role will closely partner with the Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Risk, and other teams to build innovative consultative offerings for key bank partners across geographies and deliver on diverse strategic projects. The role will also ensure accurate and relevant representations of data to create a compelling story for bank partners and internal leadership with actionable insights enabling quick and informed decisions. Development and socialization of stakeholder-ready, strategic and actionable insights and analytical solutions to advise strategy and drive profitable marketing actions. Solving complex business problems by ideation, development & ownership of next generation tech solutions and algorithms. Analyze data to derive business insights and create innovative marketing solutions and inform strategic roadmaps. Evaluate impact on business of different strategies/initiatives and generate insights, recommendations and solutions for further improvement and in line with strategic business priorities. Innovate and evolve strategies to drive business results. Expand usage of data-backed decisions/products/data science in strategies and identifying opportunities with potential to scale. Partner with multiple stakeholders across business units and geographies to drive analytical projects. Innovate and enhance existing solutions using advanced analytics. Work in a dynamic, fast changing environment, with attention to detail, great communication skills and success driving results through multi-functional collaboration. Qualifications: 0-3 years of relevant experience in analytical domain. Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail ability to learn quickly and drive results. Ability to drive insights from data, manage multiple projects and drive results in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaboration skills with ability to build relationships and challenge the status quo. Ability to influence external partners, colleagues and senior leaders with clear thinking, robust analysis, and strong business intuition. Excellent business writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and influence at all levels. Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Big Query, SQL, Python, Lumi, PySpark and Tableau. Experience in engaging with clients in an advisory role (Business Insights, Analytical Consulting, and/or Strategy) preferred. Experience in dispute analytics, risk operations, or merchant business preferred. Experience in Machine Learning/ Cloud / Gen AI is a plus. Academic Background: Bachelors in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering/Data Science with relevant experience. Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematics/ Economics/Engineering/Management is a plus.
