Animal Compliance Specialist Boston, MA (Hybrid with occasional onsite meetings) 4-Month Contract | Potential for Contract-to-Hire Sigma Systems is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Animal Compliance Specialist to support a nationally recognized research program based in Boston. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional interested in research administration, regulatory compliance, or laboratory operations. This position supports animal research compliance activities by coordinating documentation, tracking approvals, maintaining accurate records, and assisting researchers with compliance requirements. While previous experience with animal research or IACUC is helpful, the ideal candidate is someone with strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in learning research compliance. Responsibilities Coordinate animal research compliance documentation for research projects and collaborating institutions. Review compliance documents for completeness and accuracy and follow up on missing information. Track protocol approvals, documentation deadlines, renewals, and compliance milestones. Maintain organized, audit-ready electronic records and documentation. Communicate with researchers and partner organizations regarding required compliance documentation. Assist investigators by answering routine questions regarding submission requirements and documentation. Support preparation of compliance materials for internal meetings and project reviews. Monitor expiration dates for protocols, approvals, and required documentation. Help identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, templates, and documentation. Escalate unusual or complex regulatory questions to senior compliance staff. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field preferred. 1–3 years of experience in a research, laboratory, academic, healthcare, or administrative environment. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to laboratory research or animal research environments. Familiarity with laboratory documentation, SOPs, or regulatory processes. Experience working at a university, research institution, biotechnology company, CRO, or pharmaceutical organization. Knowledge of IACUC, OLAW, or laboratory animal compliance is a plus but not required . Ideal Candidate This position is well suited for someone looking to transition from a laboratory or research support role into research administration or compliance. Candidates with backgrounds as Research Assistants, Laboratory Technicians, Animal Care Technicians, Research Coordinators, or similar positions are encouraged to apply.
