Appeals Intake Coordinator Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Appeals Intake Coordinator to join our Medicare Appeals and Grievances team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing incoming member and provider appeals and grievances, reviewing concerns for urgency and regulatory requirements, and ensuring timely assignment to the appropriate analyst for resolution. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare, managed care, or health insurance and possess strong administrative, organizational, and written communication skills. This position plays a critical role in promoting quality member care and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Receive, review, and process incoming Medicare appeals and grievances from members and providers. Screen complaints and appeals to determine urgency, benefit issues, medical necessity concerns, and other appropriate classifications. Route cases to the appropriate analyst for investigation and resolution. Assist with gathering documentation, conducting research, and supporting investigations as needed. Prepare and maintain accurate records, correspondence, and case documentation. Collaborate with Customer Service, Utilization Management, Medical Directors, and other internal departments to ensure timely case handling. Support auditing, monitoring, and quality assurance activities. Ensure compliance with federal regulations, company policies, and Medicare guidelines. Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives while maintaining a high level of customer service and member satisfaction. Required Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of experience in health insurance or managed care performing Appeals and Grievances functions. Experience working with Medicare appeals preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of Medicare, healthcare delivery systems, and managed care operations. Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to identify issues, gather and analyze information, draw conclusions, and implement solutions in accordance with federal regulations. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills. Proficiency in documentation management and intake processes. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
