The role As a Motor Vehicle Skills Assessor, you'll play a vital role in developing a skilled and capable workforce for the future. Working directly with apprentices in the workplace, you'll provide coaching, assessment and guidance that helps learners build their skills, achieve qualifications and progress confidently through their programmes. Your expertise will directly support operational excellence, customer satisfaction and long-term talent development across the defence sector. Day-to-day you'll be required to: Deliver workplace coaching, assessment and tailored support to apprentices. Monitor, record and track learner progress while maintaining accurate and compliant documentation. Provide constructive feedback and training sessions to support successful programme completion and End Point Assessment readiness. Build strong relationships with learners, employers and internal stakeholders to enhance the learner experience. Maintain professional standards, compliance requirements and continuous professional development. Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role. The role is based remotely, with travel required to sites across the South West including Tidworth, Lyneham, Warminster, Colerne, Larkhill, Bulford and Wiltshire. The set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week. Essential experience of the Motor Vehicle Skills Assessor: Considerable experience as a qualified assessor. Strong background within a motor vehicle or relevant engineering environment. Good understanding of work-based learning programmes and apprenticeship delivery. Experience supporting learners to achieve qualifications and professional standards. Ability to build effective relationships with learners, employers and key stakeholders Qualifications for the Motor Vehicle Skills Assessor: Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent assessor qualification. Vehicle Mechanic qualification at Level 3 or above. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or equivalent Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service(EDBS) security clearance for this role. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
