Art Curator

At Indiewalls, we work on the boldest commercial art projects in the country, focusing on bringing independent artists into those spaces. We are looking for a highly creative, organized, and hard-working individual to join our Curatorial team. Our clients include boutique hotels, large-scale office spaces, high-end residential designers, and major brands. As a Curator, you will be responsible for helping them conceptualize, discover, purchase, and commission contemporary artwork from independent artists. This role allows you to combine your love of art and design with your strong work ethic, digital fluency, and passion for creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, remote environment.

This position is a perfect fit for a creative professional with a proven track record in art consulting, curating, artist management, and creative logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Curate bespoke artwork proposals that align perfectly with client aesthetics, budget requirements, and tight turnaround times.
• Source and vet independent artists for specific projects, guiding them through concept development and proposal creation.
• Advise high-end clients (interior designers, developers, and brands) on artwork selection, sizing, placement, and spatial specifications.
• Own the full lifecycle of complex projects, including large-scale custom commissions and multi-location commercial properties with hundreds of unique artwork locations.
• Manage artist relations, from initial outreach and material gathering to contract and pricing negotiations.
• Drive project profitability by negotiating artist rates and maintaining a keen eye on the financial health and gross margins of each project.
• Collaborate seamlessly with internal project managers and external stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery.
• Oversee quality control to ensure all finished pieces meet the client's final specifications, which includes site visits or inspections at artists' studios or manufacturing facilities as needed (requires minimal domestic travel, at most one day per month).

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4+ years of experience in art consulting, curating, interior design operations, or creative project management.
• An exceptional eye for contemporary art, interior design trends, and spatial relationships.
• An established network of independent artists and a passion for discovering new talent.
• The confidence to make definitive curatorial recommendations and present them persuasively to high-profile clients.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret floor plans, architectural blueprints, and elevations.
• Stellar communication skills—adept at building strong relationships via email, phone, video calls, and in-person meetings.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to efficiently manage dozens of moving projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets) and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable, Monday.com) is a strong plus.
• Graphic design experience is a bonus.
