About the Role
This is a rare opportunity for an early-career engineer who has already been building with AI and wants to do far more of it, inside a product that genuinely matters. You will design and deliver AI-powered features into a new GT Maritime product, calling commercial AI APIs such as Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock and OpenAI inside a production .NET stack.
This is not a research role, and it is not a management role. It is a technical leadership track. You will own architecture and engineering decisions, set the patterns the team follows, and grow your influence through the quality of what you build rather than the size of a team you run.
What sets this role apart is commercial instinct. We want someone who thinks like an operator, not just a coder. You should care why a feature matters to a customer at sea, what it costs to run, how quickly it lands, and whether it moves the business forward. You will not own a P&L, but you will make decisions with the business impact in full view.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver AI-powered features by calling commercial AI APIs within a production .NET codebase.
- Set the integration patterns the team follows, covering architecture, observability, cost controls and guardrails from day one, using Microsoft Agent Framework and Amazon Bedrock.
- Build features with logging, cost tracking, retries, compliance and guardrails baked in from the start, because you do not ship what you cannot monitor.
- Design clean, versioned, observable RESTful APIs, and reason confidently about service boundaries in a distributed microservices architecture.
- Advocate for AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor through pair programming, worked examples and PR reviews.
- Ensure reliability in environments where software failure has real-world consequences.
What We're Looking For
Must have
- 2+ years of hands-on production software engineering experience.
- Something real you have built and shipped using LLM APIs or agentic frameworks, such as Claude, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, MCP or LangGraph.
- AI coding assistants as a genuine part of your daily workflow, not an occasional experiment.
- A working understanding of distributed systems and microservices, service boundaries, and the failure modes that come with them.
- RESTful API fundamentals, SQL basics and an observability mindset.
- Comfort working in, or quickly learning, C# / .NET Core. We care more about how fast you learn than what you already know.
