Job Description: Asset Health SME Job Location: Atlanta, GA area - Remote (up to 75% travel) Job responsibilities and tasks The Asset Health SME is responsible for supporting predictive maintenance (PdM) contracts and services across multiple customer sites, ensuring technical excellence, database integrity, and consistent program optimization. This role combines technical expertise in condition monitoring technologies with the ability to guide field teams and optimize asset health strategies. Key Responsibilities: Support Contract Startups Provide technical and procedural guidance during the mobilization and implementation phases of new contracts. Execute Specialized Spot Services Perform and deliver diagnostic assessments such as Motion Amplification, Infrared Thermography (IR), and Ultrasound (UE). Optimize PdM Programs Develop, review, and continuously improve predictive maintenance strategies, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and industry best practices. Maintain PdM Databases Ensure data accuracy, standardization, and maintainability across all customer databases and online monitoring systems. Support Predictive Maintenance Contracts Oversee technical performance, manage online vibration system databases and hardware, and provide clear, actionable guidance to site teams (e.g., identifying and communicating sensor issues, such as low battery alerts). Technical Troubleshooting and Analysis Lead or support troubleshooting efforts using advanced techniques such as vibration and phase analysis, motion amplification, and infrared inspections. Continuous Improvement & Training: Identify improvement opportunities within customer programs and provide technical coaching to site technicians and analysts. Level of Education & Knowledge: Certification in Vibration Analysis – ISO Category III (required). Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in predictive maintenance or condition monitoring (vibration, thermography, ultrasound, etc.). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with vibration online monitoring systems and PdM software platforms. Excellent communication and coordination skills. ISO 18436-2 Category III Vibration Analysis certification required. Advanced knowledge of rotating machinery behavior, dynamic response, and mechanical failure modes. Strong understanding of online monitoring systems and vibration diagnostic software (e.g., SKF @ptitude, Emerson, Pruftechnik, Bently Nevada, etc.). Familiarity with advanced analysis techniques such as phase analysis, resonance testing, and ODS (Operational Deflection Shape). Strong understanding of predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and oil analysis, with the ability to integrate multi-technology data for accurate diagnostics and reliability improvement. Experienced in applying reliability methodologies such as RCM, RCA, and FMEA to support long-term asset performance strategies. Ability to communicate technical findings clearly across multidisciplinary teams. Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as IBM Maximo and SAP PM for tracking work orders, maintenance history, and reliability data integration. Awareness of industrial safety practices and compliance standards. Experience & Technical Skills: 5+ years of practical experience in vibration analysis, including diagnostics of complex rotating machinery in industrial settings. Hands-on experience in the Pulp & Paper industry, with familiarity in applying predictive techniques to sector-specific equipment. Background in maintenance or reliability functions within heavy industry, contributing to asset performance and uptime. Skilled in rotor balancing and applying mechanical corrections in the field. Working knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance, including equipment tracking and inspection planning. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, such as OEM manuals, engineering drawings, and failure reports. Capable of producing data-driven vibration reports supported by trend analysis and historical comparisons. Experience with preventive maintenance execution, aligned with reliability-centered maintenance strategies. Adept with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint for technical presentations. Committed to industrial safety practices, with experience in safety-critical environments. Solid understanding of mechanical behavior of rotating assets and related failure mechanisms. Participate in weekend duty rotation with the vibration team, providing remote or on-site support as needed to assist in urgent equipment evaluations or abnormal vibration events. Physical and Mental Qualifications Physical condition for field inspection in Pulp and Paper Mills Communication: ability to express themselves with correctness, certainty, and objectivity, transmitting security and confidence. Emotional stability: the ability to present a calm and balanced temperament, with self-control of his actions.
