POSITION DESCRIPTION A pharmacy practice faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professor) is responsible for the planning and delivery of assigned core and elective PharmD coursework within the School of Pharmacy. The faculty member is responsible to the Chair for Pharmacy Practice and will be actively engaged in the teaching, scholarship, and service missions of Pacific University. The faculty will have an opportunity to develop, implement, and maintain a pharmacy practice site to facilitate experiential training for PharmD candidates. The practice site opportunity is developed in line with the expertise and interests of the faculty member to promote their professional growth and scholarly endeavors and School’s needs. The faculty position is offered as an 11-month calendar year extended-term track appointment having 60% teaching effort. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Prior experience in these general areas will receive highest consideration: Develop, maintain, and administer student-centered PharmD curricular material in a broad range of topics related to evidence-based pharmacotherapy and the management of patients and pharmacy practice via lectures, group activities, skills laboratories, projects, and experiential education. Assess teaching, with emphasis on competencies and outcomes, in order to provide continual improvement in student and faculty performances and in student retention Provide mentoring and advisement to PharmD students and, where appropriate, to preceptors throughout the didactic and experiential curriculum Develop, implement, and maintain a high-quality collaborative pharmacy practice site (inpatient care) to facilitate rotations in experiential education (negotiable up to 20%) Engage in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching (i.e., Boyer’s model) in areas appropriate to the appointee’s interest and expertise, which advances the mission of the School of Pharmacy, College, and University (10% effort) Participate in various committees in the School of Pharmacy, College, and University (10% effort) Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND BEHAVIORS Required Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited program with pharmacist licensure or eligibility for licensure in Oregon within 6 months of initial hire Completion of a pharmacy practice residency or equivalent experience Prior experience in inpatient health-systems patient care with emphasis on infectious diseases Demonstrated high motivation to excel in teaching, scholarship, service, and pharmacy practice Demonstrated commitment to interprofessional healthcare education and addressing emerging healthcare-related issues which aligns with the mission and vision of the School and College Demonstrated excellent communication and ability to work effectively as a team member and collaborator with diverse faculty, staff, and students Demonstrated exemplary patient care skills Preferred qualifications: Prior academic teaching training or experience and/or delivery of training programs within diverse healthcare environments, including instructional design, assessment, and delivery Demonstrated proficiency in pharmacy PRACTICE SKILLS TRAINING (e.g., practice laboratory, case based small group discussion or Team-Based Learning), and the provision of actionable feedback Completion of a PGY2 pharmacy practice residency with emphasis on INFECTIOUS DISEASES, or equivalent experience Pharmacy Specialty Board certification in an appropriate area Prior experience in or demonstrated promise for increasing scholarly activity WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment resides in a LEED Gold-certified building. Partial remote work allowed. Teaching schedules will be arranged through discussion with the Chair for Pharmacy Practice and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs to meet the needs of the program.
