Summary: The Assistant Director of Development plays an integral role in strengthening Mass General Brigham’s philanthropic program. Working in close collaboration with colleagues in Philanthropic Relations and across the department, the Assistant Director is focused on the qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts below $250K, to build out the pipeline of high-level unrestricted support and future major gift donors. The Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors and meet annual fundraising and performance metrics as established by the department. Essential Functions: • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Leadership Giving, execute a process of personalized and systematic cultivation resulting in the solicitation and closing of annual unrestricted gifts from prospects with the capacity to support the hospital with a gift of $25,000, up to $250K. • Manage a pool of prospects and donors and meet annual performance metrics of dollars raised, and meaningful donor contacts, including completed and documented calls, individualized letters, emails and personal visits. Fundraising and performance metrics are reestablished annually. • Document all activity in database. • Work closely with assigned beat area(s) colleagues to align restricted fundraising efforts within the clinical area, advocate for blended asks of both unrestricted and restricted support and serve as a resource on unrestricted giving. • Successfully solicit and close new and renewed gifts, including outright, planned gifts and gifts of assets, partnering with other gift officers, hospital and department leadership, and faculty, as appropriate • Actively advocate for and raise awareness of unrestricted giving within both internal and external audiences. • Develop an understanding of and stay abreast of Mass General Brigham’s breadth of research, clinical, teaching, and community service programs. • Be an engaged and active participant and collaborator within the team and across the department and institution, engaging in healthy and productive activities and contributing to the overall positive office environment. • Participate in professional development and stay well-informed of annual giving and overall fundraising trends and practices. • Collaborate with appropriate directors of development and physicians to champion and execute agreed upon activities and strategies. • Demonstrate high integrity and professionalism. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required and 3-5 years of fundraising or related experience. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills, abilities and competencies: Experience devising and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, strong work ethic and strategic thinking skills Proficiency in data entry, data management and reporting Ability to motivate, engage, influence and work collaboratively with diverse internal and external audiences in a variety of situations Entrepreneurial, conscientious and results-oriented work style, with motivation to learn and display flexibility in a changing environment Experience with Blackbaud CRM (or Raiser’s Edge), Microsoft Office Suite, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom and Teams) preferred Additional Job Details (if applicable) The target salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.
