Department : Legal Department (Lottery - EMEA & APAC) Location : Manchester (Media City/Salford Quays). Brightstar Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated legal professional to provide general commercial law support, with a focus on the review, negotiation, and drafting of a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology supply agreements, tender contracts, joint venture agreements and partner agreements for our EMEA & APAC Lottery businesses. This role will support operations in current jurisdictions across Europe and Asia Pacific, along with potential new business opportunities in new jurisdictions. As part of the global Brightstar Legal Department (approximately 40 professionals worldwide), you will provide legal support to business teams operating across EMEA & APAC. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performance environment, helping Brightstar navigate a broad range of legal and commercial challenges. The Legal Team in the UK consists of 7 lawyers based in Manchester and London who support various parts of Brightstar’s business. This role will be part of the Lottery Legal team and will report to the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel based in Manchester, UK. The position includes management responsibility for 2 UK-based lawyers. Responsibilities Provide pragmatic commercial legal advice in a dynamic multi-jurisdictional environment, collaborating with business partners, customers, and legal colleagues worldwide. Serve as a trusted legal advisor to Lottery business leaders across EMEA & APAC, providing day-to-day commercial contract support and strategic guidance. Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide variety of B2B contracts with customers and partners, including supply and licensing of national lottery systems, digital lottery products and related hardware and services, as part of public and private tender processes. Support new business development initiatives, including the establishment of operations in new jurisdictions and advising on all aspects relating to the implementation of new strategic ventures in various countries. Advise on ancillary legal matters arising in the region, including employment, real estate, data protection, IP, compliance and company secretarial matters, often alongside external counsel. Advise on risk mitigation, dispute resolution and litigation strategy. Manage relationships with external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions. Contribute to global legal department initiatives and projects and opportunities to participate in a wide range of global and local employee programs and events. Qualifications Experience Minimum 10+ years PQE (law firm and/or in-house experience preferred). This is intended as a guide only.
