About the Position We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team and take ownership of a growing caseload. This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing cases, comfortable in court, and capable of working directly with clients in a highly personal and often emotional practice area. This is a full-time position based in Chicago. The role is in office for the first 3 months to support training, collaboration, and integration with the team. After the initial 3-month period, the position may transition to a hybrid schedule, based on performance, firm needs, court appearances, and client responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned caseload from intake through resolution Review and respond to discovery requests Draft pleadings, court orders, memoranda, and related legal documents Conduct legal research and analyze case materials Appear in court for status hearings, motions, and trials Conduct and attend depositions Maintain regular communication with clients and provide legal guidance Prepare and process court filings Manage scheduling and case deadlines Participate in networking and outreach to support business development Handle additional responsibilities as assigned About You You are a motivated attorney who takes ownership of your work and approaches cases with both professionalism and empathy. You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. You communicate clearly and effectively with clients, colleagues, and the court, and you are comfortable working with individuals navigating emotionally complex situations. You bring sound judgment, strong work ethic, and the ability to stay focused under pressure. Qualifications Active Illinois law license required 3+ years of legal experience preferred Experience or exposure to domestic relations matters strongly preferred Strong written, research, and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Highly organized with strong attention to detail Comfortable working in a client-facing, emotionally sensitive environment Willingness to travel locally for court appearances as needed Compensation This position offers a salary range of $85,000 to $140,000 based on experience, litigation background, and the level of independence the candidate brings to the role. $85,000 to $105,000 for candidates with 3 to 4 years of family law litigation experience $105,000 to $140,000 for candidates with 5+ years of family law litigation experience Bonus opportunity available Firm Benefit Offerings $50 monthly cell phone allowance 80 hours of paid time off Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave Paid holidays 401(k) eligibility after 3 months with up to 4% employer match 50% health insurance premium contribution, up to $180 per month Commuter reimbursement plan for CTA, Pace, Metra, and other eligible transit expenses How to Apply Please submit your resume and cover letter sharing your interest in the position with us at Hammer Serna and Quinn LLC.
