We are seeking an Associate Editor to join the Practical Law team in the UK, supporting Practical Law's expansion across Europe and its Global Growth Projects. Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing rigorous, peer-reviewed resources, including practice notes, current awareness and standard documents to help legal professionals work more efficiently and advise with confidence. About the Role In this opportunity as an Associate Editor in Practical Law, you will work with the support and supervision of more experienced colleagues in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions to interpret and explain legal, practice and market developments to our customers through online content. This role will primarily support Practical Law's expansion into Europe from the UK, with scope to contribute to Global Growth Projects across other regions as business needs evolve. Working in a supportive team of colleagues, you will: Assist with the building and coordination of new content for Europe and other growth regions, by liaising with colleagues from across Practical Law practice areas, product and marketing. Draft new content for online publication, including current awareness, with support and supervision. Carry out legal research and present results clearly, accurately and succinctly. With support and supervision from colleagues, help maintain content to ensure that it is up-to-date, reflects current legal and market practice, and is of a quality and scope that meets business objectives and customer needs. Conduct audits of online resource collections and content databases (including in HighQ), reviewing them for accuracy, completeness, consistency and currency, and flagging gaps or issues to senior colleagues for resolution. Provide support to the Practical Law team in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions, including in relation to new legal AI and technology-driven projects. You may also be asked to: Support senior colleagues to write, sub-edit and update legal know-how resources, including practice notes, checklists, standard documents and clauses, drafting notes and legal updates, in accordance with established writing style and guidance. Assist with data-gathering, list maintenance and coordination tasks supporting growth project workflows. Support the monitoring of current legal and market developments relevant to the growth regions. Assist the events, marketing and sales teams with initiatives such as webinars, demonstrations and networking, as required. Contribute to internal communications and knowledge-sharing. Provide flexible support across other Practical Law Global Growth Projects as priorities require. About You You're a fit for this role of Associate Editor if your background includes: A qualified lawyer, or someone with a strong legal background, with an interest in legal publishing and know-how. No prior Practical Law experience is required. Good writing and communication skills, with the ability to write and edit clearly under guidance. Strong legal research skills and the ability to assimilate and apply complex information. Well organised, with experience managing or coordinating large content or data sets an advantage. Excellent attention to detail. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Able to work to deadlines and to prioritise and manage own workload. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn relevant Practical Law and Thomson Reuters applications. A strong interest in AI, comfortable with technology and able to adapt to new tools quickly. Previous experience of advising on or studying any field of law in the UK or abroad. Desirable Skills and Experience: Ability to read and work in one or more European languages would be welcome. Experience working with Practical Law, Practical Law Global, HighQ or other editorial platforms and databases. Interest in or exposure to legal technology and AI-driven editorial projects. Education / Certifications Required: Undergraduate UK Law Degree, or equivalent law degree from a European jurisdiction; or Undergraduate Degree in a subject other than Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Law (or equivalent). #LI-AB3 What’s in it For You?
