NewSchools Venture Fund Associate Partner, Teaching Reimagined OPPORTUNITY Nationally recognized nonprofit venture philanthropy seeks an Associate Partner to help build the field of organizations working to make teaching a more effective, sustainable and joyful profession that attracts a diverse group of educators. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES NewSchools is seeking an Associate Partner to join a diverse and dedicated team focused on ensuring that all young people get access to an excellent and equitable education. As an Associate Partner on the Teaching Reimagined team, you will find, fund, and support organizations working to redesign educator roles, building relationships with innovators and practitioners, translating vision into language that draws in strong ideas, and stewarding a rigorous investment process in service of that vision. In this role, you will report to Pete Fishman, Senior Partner, Teaching Reimagined, and can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. This role requires up to 25% travel for in-person team meetings, retreats and conferences. Your legacy at NewSchools will include: Building the field of organizations working to make teaching a more effective, sustainable and joyful profession Contribute to the evolution of the Teaching Reimagined strategy, bringing insight from the field on where market gaps exist and where innovators are doing promising work Translate our strategy and evidence into clear, compelling language that helps practitioners and innovators understand our funding priorities Build relationships with innovators, practitioners, and field organizations to cultivate a strong, diverse pipeline of ideas aligned to our strategy Help identify emerging themes in the field that should inform where the strategy focuses next Stewarding a rigorous, efficient investment process Lead the process to find and fund ideas aligned to our investment strategy — cultivating a pipeline, conducting landscape research, and running selection and diligence Develop and communicate strong cases for investment that are grounded in evidence and our investment criteria Gather and synthesize evidence of impact across the portfolio to inform future investment and management-assistance decisions Collaborate with shared services and own end to end grant making for the team to ensure grants are processed effectively Coaching and supporting venture leaders Serve as a trusted advisor to a group of venture leaders, coaching them to scale their impact and build effective, equitable organizations Contribute to the design and delivery of learning experiences that connect leaders across organizations, fostering communities of practice Partner with external experts to enhance our management assistance approach, and create/curate resources that codify best practices for venture leaders Contributing to broader Teaching Reimagined strategy and team culture Help shape a values-centered team culture that honors the full humanity of each person and supports collaboration across lines of difference Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from across the portfolio to identify patterns in venture impact and experience Contribute to additional needs as team design evolves EXPERIENCE At least 8 years of experience in K-12 public education At least 5 years of experience working at a school level as an educator and/or school leader (preferred) Experience designing and implementing K-12 talent systems, especially those that redesign educator roles (preferred) Experience making or contributing to investment, funding, or high-stakes resource allocation decisions (preferred) SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Passion for innovation, excellence and equity in public education Belief in the power of philanthropy to create momentum for systems level change and a deep network across K-12 education, especially talent organizations Demonstrated track record of working with high levels of excellence. High comfort with ambiguity and tolerance for risk Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex ideas into simple, accessible language A high degree of self-awareness and a demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous improvement Strong project management skills and ability to balance coordination, effectiveness, and efficiency Ability to influence without authority and commitment to high quality conversational capacity and communication skills Ability to toggle between operating at the strategic and implementation levels. Comfort working in a small organization and team Ability to travel up to 25% for in-person team meetings, retreats and conferences COMPENSATION A competitive compensation package including base salary, performance bonus and employer-funded benefits is available. The starting salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000 with the potential for an annual bonus of up to 5%. Final salary will be determined based on experience level and qualifications.
