We are looking for an Associate Project Manager to support our advisory team as a major Italian infrastructure firm expands its operations and evaluates new capital investments. This role is designed for an entry level professional who wants to focus on the logistical and analytical details of high stakes financial decision making.
About Blue Oak Consulting Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The role In this role, you will be a central point of coordination for our project teams. Because we are a small firm, you will be involved in the actual work rather than sitting on the sidelines. You will support our principals by ensuring that the data we receive from clients is organized, verified, and mapped against project milestones. This is a permanent, full time position conducted in a fully remote environment. You will spend your time tracking the progress of our engagement with a major Italian infrastructure firm, ensuring that the financial assumptions being tested are documented correctly and that all workstreams stay on schedule. We value direct communication and the ability to spot inconsistencies in a spreadsheet or a project plan.
What you will be doing
Organizing and maintaining project documentation related to the expansion plans of our infrastructure clients.
Tracking project timelines and ensuring that all data requests are fulfilled by client teams on time.
Assisting in the review of financial models to flag missing data or illogical assumptions.
Preparing weekly progress summaries that focus on factual updates rather than corporate fluff.
Scheduling and coordinating remote meetings between Blue Oak principals and client representatives.
Maintaining a centralized database of capital allocation decisions and historical project data.
Helping to draft clear, evidence based reports that challenge existing corporate narratives.
Cross referencing internal project costs with budget forecasts to ensure financial discipline within our own firm.
Supporting the execution phase of our advisory work by monitoring client performance against our recommended benchmarks.
What you bring
A completed degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a similar field that requires analytical thinking.
The ability to use Excel to organize data sets and perform basic financial calculations.
A skeptical and inquisitive mindset that asks why a number is there before accepting it as fact.
Excellent written communication skills with a focus on being direct and using plain English.
Strong organizational habits and the ability to manage multiple small tasks without losing focus.
A preference for working independently in a remote setting while staying connected through digital tools.
Basic knowledge of project management principles, such as critical paths and milestone tracking.
An interest in the mechanics of large scale infrastructure and how capital is deployed in the real world.
The maturity to handle confidential financial information with total discretion.
What we offer
A permanent position with a competitive salary that reflects the responsibilities of the role and the current market.
A 100 percent remote working arrangement that allows for a professional lifestyle without a commute.
Direct exposure to senior principals who have decades of experience in financial advisory.
The opportunity to learn how to deconstruct complex financial cases and find the underlying logic.
A working environment that avoids bureaucracy and focuses on doing the actual work.
Regular training on financial modeling, pricing theory, and capital allocation frameworks.
Practical experience supporting a major expansion project for a significant international firm.
Working at Blue Oak Consulting means moving away from the typical consulting experience of long hours spent on slide design. We care about the integrity of the numbers and the logic of the decision. You will be expected to think for yourself and speak up when you see something that does not make sense. This role provides a foundation in project management and financial analysis within a firm that values honesty and technical discipline above all else. We prioritize clarity and results over corporate jargon, and we expect our Associate Project Managers to do the same as they help us navigate complex client engagements.
