We currently have a vacancy for an Associate Supervisor on a specified purpose contract in the Investment Funds & Retail Intermediaries Supervision Division. This role is aligned with the Bank Officer grade and the BO salary scale. New entrants to the Central Bank will commence on Point 1 of the relevant salary scale. in this case, the starting salary will be €35,046. The purpose of the role is to provide support to a team of supervisors in the supervision of one or more regulated companies in the sector, using a risk-based, outcome-focused approach to supervision, so they receive the necessary assistance whilst monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements (National, European and International standards).


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assigned supervisory work to support the supervision of firms in the Retail Intermediary sector, including assisting with risk assessments, using a risk-based, outcome-focused approach to supervision aligned to the Central Bank’s risk assessment, to contribute to the safeguarding of the financial system and the protection of consumers. Contribute to the drawing of conclusions and making of recommendations, as appropriate, for review by the lead supervisor to contribute to robust, timely, effective and efficient supervision.
  • Participate in conducting desk-based and onsite reviews where appropriate and deliver output of same in accordance with the Central Bank’s risk assessment process, to contribute to the safeguarding of the financial system.
  • Maintain supervisory files, updating as appropriate for probability risks and risk mitigation plans, under the supervision of the Supervisor on the team to contribute to the timely update of all records.
  • Provide supervisors with research as required to contribute to the team being fully informed.
  • Conduct an initial analysis of regulatory returns, trigger and triage cases and other company information as appropriate to assist the supervisors in conducting robust and effective supervision.
  • Develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships in order to foster a culture of information sharing
  • Carry out such other ad-hoc supervisory activities as determined by the Supervision Manager/Senior Supervisor, including administration so that the supervision team is fully supported in delivering their mandate.


Requirements:

  • Diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant experience in regulation, financial services or supervision within the financial industry desirable.
  • Understanding/experience of the financial industry and the practical operation of companies within that industry desirable.
  • Analytical, problem solving, decision making, planning and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of the [sector] regulatory and legal framework and understanding of the following desirable: [sector] business models, key risk drivers and supervisory approaches.
