Audit Client Manager
£42,000 – £55,000 DOE + Benefits
Shropshire | Remote-first / Hybrid
A role where your career is tailored around you - not the other way around.
If you're an experienced Assistant Manager looking to step up, or an established Audit Manager considering a move, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.
We're supporting a fast-growing, independent accountancy practice with a genuinely people-first approach.
The firm has built a strong and growing client base, a supportive culture and an environment where people are encouraged to shape their careers around what they want to achieve, whether that's progression into leadership, developing technically, moving into advisory, embracing digital innovation or simply finding the right balance for them.
And importantly, they mean it.
Work-life balance, flexibility and employee happiness are taken seriously, with a remote-first approach and a team culture built around trust rather than presenteeism.
About the role
You'll join a growing audit team with a varied and interesting portfolio, working across a mixture of:
Audit sizes differ, giving you plenty of exposure to substantial and varied assignments.
This is initially a complete audit role, with responsibility for managing assignments from planning through to completion, alongside some sign-off responsibility. You'll also have the opportunity to build your client management experience, with the portfolio shaped around your strengths, interests and the clients you work best with.
For someone interested in broadening their experience, there is also scope to get involved in advisory work alongside audit. The firm is open to people developing in that direction rather than expecting everyone to follow the same career path.
More than just audit
The firm is particularly interested in people who want to contribute to how the department develops, not simply deliver the work in front of them.
The audit team has been an early adopter of new technologies, helping to test and shape new processes, improve review efficiencies and explore the opportunities offered by cloud functionality.
If you're interested in digital innovation, technology and improving the way audit is delivered, there's plenty of scope to get involved.
The longer-term opportunities are equally interesting. The firm is ambitious about developing its people, with support available for those who want to progress towards Directorship, RI opportunities or more technically focused careers.
There is no rigid career template - careers are tailored rather than written for you.
People leadership
If interested in doing so, you'll also play an important role in supporting the wider audit team.
The department currently includes trainees, juniors, semi-seniors and seniors, with opportunities to take responsibility for the development of more junior colleagues.
People management is taken seriously here. Regular 1-2-1s and meaningful development conversations are an important part of the culture, with managers feeding into the wider leadership team on both performance and people development.
You'll have the opportunity to develop your own management style while being supported by experienced departmental leaders.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an audit professional with solid practice experience who is ready to take the next step or make a move into a role with more autonomy.
Ideally, you'll have:
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with a business, contribute ideas and build a career that works for them.
Why apply?
This is a genuinely exciting stage of growth for the firm.
You'll get:
Tailored career development
Whether you want to progress upwards, specialise technically, move into advisory or explore something completely different, the firm will work with you to build the right path.
Remote-first / hybrid working
The audit team is one of the most flexible teams in the business. Clients are spread across the UK, and the team is used to working remotely. You'll have the option to work from home while still having the opportunity to come into the office a couple of times a week if that's right for you.
Genuine progression
There is a strong focus on developing ambitious people, with clear opportunities to progress towards senior leadership and, in time, RI responsibilities.
A genuinely supportive culture
This is a close-knit, growing team where people know each other, support each other and where your development isn't just something discussed at appraisal time.
Innovation and influence
You'll have the chance to get involved in Caseware, cloud functionality, process improvements and digital innovation - and actually have a say in how these things are implemented.
Work-life balance
The firm takes wellbeing and happiness seriously. Flexibility isn't simply something written into the job advert; it's part of how the team operates.
If you're looking for a role where you can manage interesting clients, develop people, influence the future of an expanding audit function and build a career around your ambitions, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now for immediate consideration.
Talenty is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all applicants and welcomes applications from individuals regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
