Key Responsibilities Assisting with audits across a varied portfolio of clients, working across different sectors and business sizes Planning and carrying out audit fieldwork, taking responsibility for allocated sections of the audit and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently Preparing audit working papers and supporting the completion of statutory financial statements Performing substantive and analytical audit procedures and identifying potential risks or issues for review Developing an understanding of clients’ systems, processes and internal controls and highlighting areas for improvement where appropriate Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, LLPs and limited companies Supporting the preparation of corporation tax computations and other general accounts and tax work where required Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a professional and approachable point of contact during audit assignments Working closely with Audit Seniors and Managers, keeping them informed of progress, client developments and any technical or accounting issues Supporting and, where appropriate, assisting more junior members of the team and contributing to a positive team environment Skills, Knowledge & Expertise We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with clients, has a proactive approach and is keen to develop their audit career within practice. You’ll ideally have: Previous experience working in an accountancy practice, with some audit experience Be studying towards, or keen to continue studying, ACA or ACCA A good understanding of accounting and audit principles, with strong attention to detail The ability to manage your own workload and work effectively to multiple deadlines Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn, take responsibility and develop professionally Experience using audit and accounting software such as Caseware, Inflo, Xero, Sage or QuickBooks is desirable The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues and clients Belong @ Sumer At Sumer, we know everyone’s journey is different.
