Job Title: Automation Engineer (SCADA / PLC / Modbus)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, program, and maintain critical industrial automation systems. In this role, you will work remotely across PLC development, SCADA integration, and protocol communications (Modbus). You will act as a key technical contact for system integrations, working seamlessly across Finnish and international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• PLC Programming: Develop, test, and optimize PLC logic using IEC 61131-3 standards (Structured Text, Ladder Logic, Function Block) across leading platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff, Schneider, or Allen-Bradley).
• SCADA & HMI Development: Design, configure, and maintain SCADA interfaces and HMI screens for system control and real-time data visualization.
• Industrial Communications: Implement and troubleshoot Modbus TCP/RTU protocols alongside other industrial networks (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA).
• Remote Commissioning & Support: Perform remote deployment, diagnostics, system validation, and site integration support.
• System Documentation: Draft technical specifications, standard operating procedures, and control system schematics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal engineering teams, third-party vendors, and local Finnish clients to ensure project alignment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Technical Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in PLC programming, SCADA development, and Modbus communication integration.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in Finnish and English (both written and spoken) for technical documentation and stakeholder management.
• Work Location: Resident of Finland with a valid work permit (Role is 100% remote within Finland).
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capability to diagnose and resolve industrial communication, hardware interface, and software logic issues remotely.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with cloud-connected IoT devices, edge gateways, or MQTT.
• Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443).
• Basic understanding of Python, C#, or SQL database integration for industrial data logging.
