About the role Infoxchange is leading a cross-sector partnership to build the capability of the not-for-profit sector through the Digital Transformation Hub (the Hub) which provides tailored resources to help more than 10,000 organisations each year leverage digital technologies and amplify their impact. The Hub is an integrated set of web-based Digital Guides, training materials (webinars/ online learning courses) and expert advice. The Automation Engineer will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, automation and digital capability. As organisations increasingly look to move beyond experimentation and into practical adoption, this role will design, build and implement AI-powered workflows and automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort and create meaningful impact for both Infoxchange and the not-for-profit sector. The role combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of organisational change, helping translate emerging technologies into practical, secure and scalable solutions. Working closely with both the Digital Transformation Hub and Infoxchange's IT Services team, the Automation Engineer will identify automation opportunities, develop AI-enabled solutions across Microsoft 365 and related platforms, and support organisations to adopt these technologies responsibly. The role will contribute to sector capability building through the development of reusable solutions, practical resources and thought leadership, while ensuring automation and AI initiatives align with robust governance, security and risk management practices. Key duties and responsibilities AI & Intelligent Automation Engineering Identify, design, develop and optimise AI and automation solutions, including AI agents, copilots and intelligent workflows, using Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365, AI services and related technologies. Ensure solutions are well-documented, monitored and sustainable for clients and internal teams to manage and maintain. Partner with DTH, ITS and organisational stakeholders to integrate AI and automation into business processes, ensuring solutions meet operational, customer and sector needs. Apply responsible AI, security, privacy and risk management principles to all automation and AI initiatives, implementing appropriate governance controls and guardrails. Sector Capability Building & Client engagement Contribute to the development of practical resources, templates, case studies and tools that help not-for-profit organisations adopt AI and automation. Support the delivery of workshops, webinars, mentoring and advisory services focused on AI and automation capability building and supporting knowledge transfer for deployed solutions. Work alongside DTH consultants to embed automation and AI expertise into Digital Transformation Hub programs and initiatives. Provide clear, pragmatic advice on automation approaches, benefits, and limitations. Analysis & Continuous Improvement Maintain clear documentation for automated processes, known issues, and remediation steps. Contribute to continuous improvement of DTH and ITS services, standards, and delivery practices. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, trends and best practice approaches across AI, automation and digital transformation. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing across the organisation. Security, Risk & Compliance Apply a strong security mindset to all automation and AI Ensure automations align with Australian security standards (e.g. ASD Essential Eight) and Infoxchange security practices. Identify risks introduced by automation and work with stakeholders to implement appropriate controls. About you To succeed in this role at Infoxchange, you will have: Demonstrated experience in automation engineering within IT services or managed services environments. Practical experience with AI-enabled automation and/or LLM-based tools is highly desirable. Deep understanding of Microsoft 365, SharePoint governance, security, and integration with other platforms. Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Teamwork Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect). Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio) and Teams integration , Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and improvement opportunities. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical outcomes for stakeholders. Experience working across multiple teams and balancing competing priorities.
