Is this job info correct?

Posted Monday, August 17, 2026 at 4:00 AM Azure Software Engineer Department: Technology Location: Remote FLSA Status: Exempt People Leader: No Travel: Less than 10% Summary Company Summary Accuity partners with hospitals and health systems through a technology-enabled, physician-led model that improves clinical documentation integrity, coding accuracy, reimbursement optimization, and quality outcomes. Job Summary The Azure Software Engineer owns the engineering, operation, and reliability of Accuity’s Azure application and data services, including the functions, integrations, health data services, and database platforms that Accuity’s products depend on. Reporting to the Vice President, Data Architecture, this is a deep, hands-on engineering role at the center of Accuity’s cloud environment. The role is accountable for how those services behave in production, including availability, resilience, performance, and cost. It leads root cause analysis and durable remediation for Azure platform incidents, maintains and tests disaster recovery and failover procedures, and keeps provisioned capacity matched to actual workload as systems change. The Azure Software Engineer is the primary technical contributor to Accuity’s Azure engineering standards, which are owned by Data Architecture leadership and applied consistently across the environment. The role also leads Accuity’s move toward repeatable, code-defined provisioning as the company modernizes how cloud resources are deployed, and builds the documentation and automation that allow the environment to be operated, supported, and extended by more than one engineer. Responsibilities Azure Application and Data Services Engineering • Design, build, and maintain Accuity’s Azure application and data services, including Azure Functions, APIs, integration and messaging services, and supporting components. • Own the engineering of Accuity’s health data and FHIR services, including ingestion, transformation, and integration with clinical and revenue cycle applications. • Build and maintain integrations with third-party clinical data platforms and interface partners. • Develop automation and tooling that reduces manual operation of the Azure environment. • Support application and data teams with Azure service design, implementation patterns, and troubleshooting. Reliability, Performance, and Resilience • Own availability, performance, and resilience for the Azure services in scope, and be accountable for how they behave in production. • Lead root cause analysis and durable remediation for Azure platform incidents affecting production applications, rather than repeated manual recovery of the same failure. • Maintain, document, and test disaster recovery and failover procedures for owned services, including participation in scheduled tabletop and recovery exercises. • Design and tune for real load characteristics, including concurrency, contention, throughput, and latency under peak conditions. • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability so service health is visible and issues are detected before users report them. • Define and maintain availability, recovery, and performance targets for owned services in partnership with Data Architecture leadership. Cost, Capacity, and Resource Management • Own cost visibility for the Azure services in scope, and identify and execute optimization opportunities. • Right-size provisioned capacity as workloads change, including after migrations, cutovers, and service retirements, so the environment reflects actual demand rather than historical allocation. • Explain cost movement in owned services, including the drivers behind month-over-month variance. • Recommend service tier, SKU, and architecture changes that reduce cost without compromising reliability or compliance. • Support Azure consumption planning and forecasting in partnership with Data Architecture and Finance. Standards, Provisioning, and Deployment Modernization • Serve as the primary technical contributor to Accuity’s Azure engineering standards, which are owned by Data Architecture leadership, covering resource provisioning, naming, tagging, environment separation, and lifecycle management. • Apply those standards consistently across the Azure estate, and bring existing resources into alignment over time. • Lead Accuity’s move toward repeatable, code-defined provisioning, evaluating infrastructure as code approaches and recommending how Accuity should deploy and manage cloud resources going forward. • Follow change management for production Azure resources, including documented approval, testing, and rollback planning. • Partner with Platform Management on shared deployment pipelines and environment capability rather than building parallel tooling. Security and Compliance • Build and operate Azure services in accordance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and PHI protection requirements. • Apply least privilege to Azure resource access, identities, and service principals, and support periodic access reviews. • Implement encryption, network isolation, private connectivity, and auditing appropriate to the data handled. • Support audit readiness by producing accurate evidence of configuration, access, and controls for owned services. Documentation and Operational Continuity • Document architecture, configuration, dependencies, runbooks, and recovery procedures for owned services to a standard that allows another engineer to operate and support them. • Eliminate undocumented manual steps by automating them or writing them down. • Cross-train engineers and share operational knowledge so no service depends on the availability of one person. • Keep documentation current as the environment changes rather than reconstructing it after the fact. Collaboration • Partner with Data Architecture on the modernization of Accuity’s data platform, including migration sequencing, dependencies, and application impact. • Work with Engineering, Data Science and AI, Platform Management, and Enterprise IT on shared services, interfaces, and infrastructure. • Support Microsoft and vendor technical escalations for Azure services in coordination with technology leadership. • Communicate technical risk, options, and tradeoffs clearly, including where a recommendation carries cost, reliability, or compliance consequences. Other Duties as Assigned • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support technology operations and organizational goals. Qualifications Education and Credentials • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field preferred. • Equivalent professional experience, technical training, or a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications preferred. Experience • 7+ years of hands-on software or cloud engineering experience, including production ownership of Azure services. • Deep experience with Azure application services, including Azure Functions, APIs, integration services, and storage. • Experience with Azure database platforms such as SQL Managed Instance, including performance tuning under concurrency and contention. • Experience with health data standards and services such as FHIR and HL7 preferred. • Experience with disaster recovery design, failover testing, and production incident response. • Experience with infrastructure as code and automated provisioning, or a demonstrated interest in adopting it. • Experience managing cloud cost and capacity in a production environment. • Experience in a regulated or security-sensitive environment, healthcare preferred. Core Competencies • Hands-On Azure Depth: Brings deep, practical command of Azure services and uses it to solve real production problems rather than theoretical ones. • Production Ownership: Treats the behavior of a service in production as the measure of the work, including availability, performance, and cost. • Reliability Engineering: Designs for failure, tests recovery before it is needed, and fixes causes rather than symptoms. • Cost Consciousness: Understands what the environment costs and why, and keeps capacity matched to actual demand as systems change. • Standards Alignment: Works within shared standards and improves them through the agreed process rather than around it. • Collaborative Judgment: Brings a strong technical point of view, argues it well, and commits fully to the agreed direction once a decision is made. • Knowledge Sharing: Builds capability in others so that expertise scales beyond one person and the environment is never dependent on a single engineer. • Documentation Discipline: Records configuration, dependencies, and procedures as the work is done, to a standard someone else can follow. • Security Mindset: Treats access, isolation, and auditability as design requirements in a PHI environment rather than later additions. • Problem Solving: Diagnoses complex, ambiguous failures across application, data, network, and platform layers. • Adaptability: Adopts new approaches and tooling as the platform and the organization evolve. • Remote-Work Effectiveness: Communicates proactively, documents decisions, and maintains visibility into work in a fully remote organization. Additional Requirements 1) Physical Requirements: The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. Unless otherwise indicated, Accuity positions require interaction with people and technology while either sitting or standing. Employees must be able to communicate via phone, email, etc. and sit for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodations. Physical effort and exposure to physical risk are limited to that of an office role / environment. 2) Position and Employment Statement: While this job description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, management reserves the right to modify, add or remove duties from a job and to assign other duties as necessary and at any time.
