Backend Developer

Remobi | Remote (candidates need to be based in Romania, Serbia, or Poland) | Freelance/Contract | Initial contract to end of September, with a 12-month extension likely | ASAP start

We are Remobi - we help businesses scale and innovate through high-performing, remote nearshore tech teams.

We're hiring a Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable backend systems while supporting a broader shift toward cloud-native, containerised infrastructure. Think .NET/C# backend development alongside AWS, Kubernetes, and the transition from monolith to microservices - not just writing code in isolation, but working across the stack with data teams and infrastructure in mind.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems using .NET / C#, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Support the transition from monolithic to microservices architecture
• Implement and manage cloud-native solutions on AWS, using Infrastructure-as-Code tools to automate provisioning
• Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads, networking, and resource allocation
• Develop, package, and maintain applications as containers
• Implement security measures and data protection protocols
• Write and maintain unit test cases
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers

What We're Looking For

Must-have:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong proficiency in .NET Framework and C#
• Strong knowledge of standard collection types (List, Dictionary, HashSet, Queue, Stack) and when to use each
• Experience with thread-safe collections and multithreading
• Solid database experience (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Containerisation experience (Docker)

Nice-to-have:

• Cloud awareness, ideally Azure/AWS
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Proven experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar)
• Design patterns knowledge
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
