What you'll do We're looking for a Java Engineer who's excited to help us build the backend systems behind the investor experience at Mintos - the platform where hundreds of thousands of investors across Europe access loans, bonds, ETFs, and more. This is a high-impact opportunity: you'll build and operate the services that connect Mintos core systems with the tools that power investor communications - so that every important moment in an investor's journey reaches them reliably and on time. You'll work on event-driven integrations, real-time data flows, and integrations with external platforms, and you'll set the technical foundation for every new Java service our team builds. You'll join a team that starts every piece of work with "why", keeps scope lean ("less but better"), makes reversible decisions quickly, and takes its time on the ones that are hard to undo. If you want your code to directly shape how investors experience Mintos, we'd be excited to get to know you! You will: Deliver backend features and integrations end-to-end - from specification through production deployment and monitoring. Keep message-driven processing reliable: at-least-once delivery with deduplication, retries with backoff, and circuit breaking. Design and build new Java services as the team's backend footprint grows, applying clean architecture and a consistent quality bar from day one. Write comprehensive automated tests as part of development, backed by architecture tests and static analysis on every merge. Contribute to RFCs for decisions other teams depend on, and review your peers' designs constructively. Document contracts, integration behavior, and architectural decisions so other teams can integrate without asking. Collaborate daily with engineers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to solve real investor problems. Our tech stack: We build event-driven services with hexagonal architecture (ports and adapters), enforced code quality, and observability as core principles. Java 21, Spring Boot Gradle, Lombok, vavr RabbitMQ for inter-service communication PostgreSQL, Spring Data JPA, Liquibase Spock and JUnit for testing, Testcontainers, ArchUnit for architecture rules Resilience4j, Caffeine Enforced formatting and static analysis (Google Java Format, Error Prone, PMD) Docker, GitHub Actions for CI/CD AWS services (ECS, ECR, RDS, CloudWatch) Your professional skills and background Must-haves: Proven experience building production backend services with modern Java and Spring Boot; Good grasp of message-driven systems and brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka - delivery semantics, idempotency, dead-letter handling; Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema migrations; Experience with layered or hexagonal architecture, and the discipline to keep domain logic free of framework dependencies; A test-driven mindset and a strong sense of ownership over your code in production; Comfort with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Git, and containerized deployment practices; Good communication skills and written English (we work in international teams); Experience working in agile cross-functional teams, with a focus on understanding the business problem before writing code. Nice-to-haves: Worked with customer engagement or marketing automation platforms (Braze, Iterable, or similar); Experience with resilience patterns for third-party integrations - timeouts, backoff, circuit breakers; Familiarity with observability practices: structured logging, metrics, tracing (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, or similar); Experience with ArchUnit, Spock, or contract-first API development.
