Backend Software Engineer (m/f/x)

We're looking for an engineer whose primary focus is backend application development while also being comfortable contributing to frontend features when needed. You'll collaborate across the entire application stack — from APIs and business logic to user-facing experiences — working closely with product, design, and engineering to turn ideas into reliable, impactful features, while maintaining the majority of your focus on the backend development. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy understanding the bigger picture: solving backend challenges, shaping user experiences, and seeing their work move from concept to production. You'll work closely with platform and infrastructure teams while staying focused on building the products and experiences our customers rely on. Build across the stack, not just within it: Solve real product challenges used by customers every day Work at the intersection of engineering, design, and product Grow your technical breadth by collaborating with teams across the stack Build products that operate at scale: Design and ship features across backend services and user-facing applications Work with systems handling high volumes of IoT telemetry data Collaborate with platform teams supporting reliable, production-grade infrastructure Create experiences that directly impact how customers interact with our products If you enjoy building robust backend solutions while still having the opportunity to improve the frontend experience, this role offers the right balance. If you are looking for a role entirely focused on platform/backend engineering with no frontend involvement, this might not be the ideal fit. What We're Looking For Backend / Application Services At least 3 years of backend software development experience. Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, NestJS or similar frameworks. Strong understanding of RESTful API design. Experience with PostgreSQL, schema design and query optimization. Familiarity with authentication, authorization, input validation and application security. Experience working with GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Experience writing unit and integration tests. Understanding of logging, monitoring, debugging and performance optimization. Ability to design scalable backend architectures and caching strategies. Experience with real-time communication using WebSockets. Frontend / Web Experience building web applications with React and TypeScript. Understanding of centralized state management with Redux and React Context. Solid foundation in HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design. Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs. Understanding of asynchronous data handling, error management and frontend performance. Nice to Have Experience writing internal tools or SDKs. Contributions to open-source projects.
