PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 28,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection. JOB SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Program Manager is responsible to develop, manage, and oversee the affiliate’s integrated behavioral health program in collaboration with the Clinical Services Department. This position will also provide direct patient care in-person and via telehealth. As a member of the clinical services team, the Behavioral Health Program Manager will work directly with the licensed and non-licensed medical staff to assess, treat, and refer patients for behavioral health needs through a team-based, whole person care approach. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES -Work collaboratively with the Clinical Services team on behavioral health program improvement, , implementation, and expansion. -Develop standards of care, protocols and policies for behavioral health care provided within our affiliate for PPCCC’s Medical Standards and Guidelines. -Partner with outside behavioral health and related organizations to facilitate timely referrals and support networks. -Manage efficient processes specific to PPCCC for identifying and treating patients in need of behavioral health services that integrates with the other medical services provided at the affiliate. -Manage and maintain a routine system of on-going training, supervision, and quality assurance related to behavioral health for unlicensed and licensed behavioral health providers. -Establishes and maintains appropriate quality standards for patient care in behavioral health. Work in collaboration with the Clinical Quality and Risk Manager to develop, and maintain audits to track compliance. -Explore and develop opportunities for group psychoeducation and interventions. -Identify, anticipate, and analyze mental health service needs of the affiliate; develop new behavioral health services or modify and improve existing programs. -Hire and onboard additional behavioral health provider(s) as the program expands. -Reviews legislative changes for impact on existing program(s); advises the CMO on policy and legislative matters concerning mental health services. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES -Provide direct patient care including behavioral health screenings, treatment, and referrals to community partners. -Serve as a clinical resource to licensed and non-licensed staff with respect to behavioral health support and resources. This includes serving in a consultative role with other medical providers regarding behavioral health issues for patients with co-occurring mental health disorders, particularly regarding risk review, diagnosis, and integration of care. -Maintain licensure and job knowledge by attending conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional societies. -Additional responsibilities related to the role as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: -Supervise behavioral providers, interns, and students as assigned. -Provide consultation and training for staff to ensure compliance with PPCCC standards of care and all legal/ethical obligations pertaining to behavioral health. -Responsible for addressing all personnel issues in a fair and efficient manner. QUALIFICATIONS: -Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of behavioral health concerns. -High comfort in working with medical providers and others in a team-based care approach. -Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for behavioral treatments. -Ability to learn and apply brief, effective evidence-based behavioral health interventions (individual, family, and group). -Ability to relate to patients of all genders with diverse backgrounds in a professional and competent manner. -Ability to demonstrate empathy to patients accessing sensitive health care services. -Excellent computer and other technology skills including Microsoft Office, the PPCCC electronic health record (EHR), and other required applications After orientation, must be capable of adjusting to patient flow per agency guidelines. -Be capable of working in a busy environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, courtesy and respect to clients and staff. -Ability to work independently and as a team member. -Must possess excellent communication skills and deliver care in a warm and caring manner. -Accuracy and attention to detail essential. -Ability to physically assist a patient in distress. -Candidate must travel within PPCCC geographic area (Thousand Oaks to San Luis Obispo). -Valid California Driver’s license and appropriate insurance EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: -Master Degree (M.A.) or equivalent -Active California license issued as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). -At least 3 years of related experience and/or training beyond master’s degree -Prior experience in a healthcare or other integrated behavioral health system preferred. -Prior experience in sexual and reproductive health care preferred. -Prior work with diverse patient populations preferred. -Experience providing services via telehealth preferred. -English/Spanish bilingual skills desirable. Planned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels. The starting salary for this position is $125,195/annualy with an opportunity for an increase after six months of employment. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.
