Position Summary: Organizes, coordinates, and administers employee benefits and functions for assigned entities and/or population of employees. Responsible for monitoring employee benefit enrollments and assisting employees with questions regarding our benefit offerings. Responsible for daily administration of all benefit transactions and coordinates processes with third party administrators, insurance companies, benefit plan providers and payroll. Education, License & Cert: HS Diploma/GED Required Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience working in a human resource or benefit function. Microsoft Office proficiency required. Essential Functions: Maintains a strong working knowledge of all entity benefit programs/structures and serves as a resource to all employees in the area of benefits. Provides benefit information and answers inquiries relating to employee benefits. Participates in new employee onboarding to cover benefit information with new employees. Also provides counsel to employees regarding enrollments, options, changes in coverage or eligibility. Maintains a strong understanding of benefits and knowledge of processes related to benefit enrollments. Participates in activities related to reviewing benefit effectiveness and assists with implementing changes or modifications to benefit programs. Functions as the main contact for third party administrators of benefit plans. Coordinates enrollment and claim processes for benefit plans, including, but not limited to short and long-term disability, medical, life and dental. Responsible for coordinating requests for leave of absence including review of the policy, directing employees to apply for leave through leave administrator, and conducting oversight of the process for benefit billings and payment of benefit premiums for employees on leave. Submit COBRA requests into COBRA administrator portal for timely notification of rights, eligibility tracking, and invoicing of monthly premiums. Responsible for entering benefit changes, enrollments and deductions into the HR Information System. Produces statistical, utilization and enrollment reports utilizing the HR Information System and other vendor programs as available. Review/approve documentation for dependent verification. Responds to benefit questionnaires from outside agencies/vendors, including insurance companies, employers, federal and state agencies and Qualified Child Support orders. Manage second-level appeals process for self-funded health plan (medical and prescription); collect denial information and send to health plan’s medical director; communicate decision to insurance carrier, caregiver and the caregiver’s provider. Other Duties: Serves as the backup for other benefits team staff, encompassing the same duties listed above.
