Where will you be working?

At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.

You’ll be joining our Highways Civil Engineering Projects work winning team, as part of the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including highway and structure maintenance and improvement schemes.

As a Bid Writer your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Working with bid teams to write tailored responses to clients and sectors, ensuring latest thinking is reflected in the submission.
  • Turn technical information into work winning responses that reflect the client's aims and objectives.
  • Develop and assess responses against evaluation criteria.
  • Develop answer plans in line with client requirements and undertake storyboarding with subject matter experts .
  • Ensure PQQ/ITT feedback is incorporated into subsequent submissions and shared.
  • Support development of the bid library, gathering evidence and case studies to inform future submissions.
  • Take responsibility for submissions’ presentation and formatting ensuring that these comply with the submissions and Company guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance to the internal Work Winning Process.
  • Ensure that all submission content is reviewed by relevant bid team members prior to submission.
  • Attend internal lessons learnt meetings for both successful and unsuccessful submissions.
  • Assist in the development of case studies, CV’s, capability statements and award submissions, when required.
  • Implement the requirements of the Company Management System (CMS), as applicable to the business operations.
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and industry trends.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Word, including advanced formatting skills.
  • At least 3 years working on multi-million-pound construction submissions.
  • Thorough understanding of work winning procedures and processes including reviews.
  • Excellent research capability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, building effective working relationships with both the wider work winning team and subject matter experts.
  • Self-motivated with the drive to deliver against deadlines.
  • Strong command of English language verbal and written (formal and informal).
  • Excellent proofreading skills.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in producing project case studies, project capability statements and brochures.
  • Desire for self-development and continuous self-improvement.
  • Demonstrate MGroup values and behaviours.
