Description As Director of Biomedical Service, you will lead the effort to create a more consistent, scalable, and high-performing biomedical service model across our national footprint. You’ll partner with executive leadership, field teams, hospital stakeholders, and key service partners to improve reliability, responsiveness, compliance, and operational discipline. Why this role matters At Block Imaging, we help healthcare providers stay in control of their equipment, costs, and service outcomes. As we continue to grow our biomedical service capabilities, we need a leader who can take strong existing programs and build the enterprise structure, consistency, and leadership systems required to scale them nationally. This is a key leadership role for someone who understands biomedical service from both the strategic and operational side. We need a leader who can see the big picture, build the right systems and processes, and then work directly with field leaders to make sure those systems actually improve performance at each customer facility. If you have deep healthcare technology management or clinical engineering leadership experience, know how to standardize operations across multiple markets, and are willing to roll up your sleeves to help teams execute, this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of biomedical service at Block Imaging. You will be responsible for: Building and leading an enterprise biomedical service operating model that supports quality, scale, and consistency Standardizing service processes, workflows, documentation expectations, escalation paths, and leadership routines across sites and regions Strengthening performance in the core metrics that define strong biomed operations, including: • Preventive maintenance compliance • Corrective maintenance response time • Time to repair • Equipment uptime and clinical readiness • Backlog reduction • Overdue work order performance • Work order quality and closure discipline • Technician effectiveness • Parts usage and service cost control • Creating management systems, scorecards, and operating reviews that help leaders understand performance, identify issues quickly, and drive accountability • Improving CMMS discipline, including asset record accuracy, PM scheduling logic, work order workflows, documentation quality, and reporting consistency • Supporting regulatory readiness by strengthening maintenance documentation, audit preparedness, and adherence to healthcare compliance expectations • Helping define and govern AEM and risk-based maintenance practices where appropriate • Working directly with field and site leaders to improve execution, coach performance, and close operational gaps • Hiring, developing, and strengthening on-site and regional biomed leadership • Supporting consistent coordination with key external service and OEM partners • Traveling regularly to maintain visibility into field operations, support leaders in person, and ensure enterprise standards are being implemented effectively What success looks like Success in this role will be measured by the ability to create a strong and repeatable operating model while improving execution in the field. This includes measurable gains in: • PM completion and on-time compliance • Reduction in overdue maintenance and service backlog • Corrective maintenance responsiveness • Equipment uptime and availability • CMMS data quality and documentation consistency • Regulatory readiness and audit performance • Customer confidence and service transparency • Leadership strength at the local level • Operational consistency across multiple sites and markets Requirements What we’re looking for We’re looking for a leader with the credibility to work across executive, operational, and technical environments—someone who can build structure without creating bureaucracy, and who understands how to turn standards into actual field performance. Qualified candidates will typically bring: • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management, electronics, engineering technology, or a related field • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in biomedical service, clinical engineering, or HTM operations • Experience leading multi-site hospital biomed operations or other complex healthcare service environments • Demonstrated success standardizing service delivery and improving operational performance across distributed teams • Deep understanding of medical equipment maintenance programs, service workflows, regulatory requirements, and field leadership practices • Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems, asset management, maintenance documentation, and operational reporting • Experience driving performance in PM compliance, backlog management, uptime, work order quality, and technician productivity • Strong people leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, accountability management, and leadership development • Ability to move comfortably between strategic planning and hands-on execution • Willingness to travel regularly Preferred qualifications • Industry certifications such as CBET, CCE, CRES, or CLES • Experience with AEM programs and risk-based maintenance strategy • Experience working in multi-vendor service environments • Experience partnering with OEMs and third-party service organizations • Familiarity with acute care hospital operations and the demands of clinically critical environments • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies The kind of leader who will thrive here This role is a strong fit for someone who is: • Operationally sharp and performance-oriented balanced with deep care for people • Comfortable building systems and improving process discipline • Quick to build trust with frontline BMETs and site leaders • Focused on service quality, accountability, and measurable outcomes • Able to lead change without losing the trust of the field • Motivated by helping healthcare providers improve reliability, control costs, and strengthen service performance Work environment and travel This is a remote role with regular travel required to headquarters in Holt, Michigan, and to hospital facilities across the USA. The right candidate should expect a meaningful field presence as part of leading the work well. The base pay range for this position is: $135,000 - $175,000 Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
