Tending is a company dedicated to respectful preservation and restoration of memorial sites. We specialize in connecting skilled craftsmen with projects that require the careful cleaning, repair, and restoration of headstones and cemetery monuments.

We are looking for a proactive Recruiter to help us find and onboard the best independent contractors in this niche field.

The Role

As our Recruiter, you will be responsible for the full-cycle sourcing and hiring of independent contractors (stone restorers, conservators, and cleaning specialists).

Key Responsibilities

• Actively source and identify qualified independent contractors (individuals or small teams) specializing in headstone cleaning and restoration.
• Screen candidates for technical skills, experience with stone materials (marble, granite, limestone), and knowledge of safe cleaning methods.
• Conduct interviews (via video calls) to assess contractor reliability, equipment, and availability.
• Negotiate project rates and contract terms with selected contractors.
• Maintain a pipeline of vetted contractors for upcoming projects across different regions.
• Coordinate with the operations team to match contractors with client projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Recruiter, Talent Sourcer, or HR Specialist — preferably in construction, restoration, landscaping, or trade industries.
• Strong ability to source candidates via online platforms.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• English — fluent (written and spoken) — mandatory.
• Spanish — a strong plus.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with memorial arts, masonry, or cemetery maintenance.
• Experience working with 1099 contractors / gig-economy workers.
• Knowledge of visa or cross-border contracting requirements (if applicable).
