Bogotá PV & BESS Design Engineer LATAM

Date: May 29, 2026 Company: Zelestra Location Bogotá, Colombia Mission At Zelestra, we are looking for a professional to lead the engineering design of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) and PV + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with international standards, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. This role will provide innovative solutions that optimize the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of renewable energy assets, to join as a PV & BESS Design Engineer, with regional scope and based in Bogotá. Responsibilities Lead the conceptual and detailed design of PV and PV+BESS projects, from site assessment to construction-ready documentation. Perform technical feasibility studies, energy yield assessments, and grid integration analysis. Ensure compliance with local and international standards, safety regulations, and quality procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, mechanical, and project management) to deliver integrated designs. Support permitting processes, providing technical input to environmental, administrative, and regulatory documentation. Review and validate supplier and contractor technical proposals, specifications, and drawings. Contribute to CAPEX/OPEX estimations and project profitability analysis. Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and performance monitoring phases. Manage and coordinate engineering contractors, ensuring technical quality, compliance with schedules, and alignment with project requirements. Supervise and monitor supply providers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and applicable regulations. Actively support the construction phase, ensuring proper execution of works in accordance with approved designs. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline. Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and engineering of large-scale PV and/or PV+BESS projects. Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, local grid codes). Proven track record coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams. Advanced/expert level in PV design and simulation tools: PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, PV*SOL, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Advanced/expert level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Knowledge of BIM and GIS tools. Intermediate or higher level of English (mandatory). What we offer Hybrid work.
